Celebrating Women's Impacts on Contra Costa County's Economy
March is Women’s History Month and in celebration, we honor Contra Costa County’s outstanding women business owners and their positive impacts on our economy. An example of an exceptional business owner is Pamela Kan (at left), president of theBishop-Wisecarver Corporation. Her Pittsburg-based company, a WBENC-Certified Women's Business Enterprise,designs and manufacturers industrial automation solutions for linear and rotary motion.
While Kan is proud to be a female leader in a male-dominated industry, she is quick to point out that her path to success has nothing do to with gender. Find out what drives this second-generation business owner.
The WDBCCC and Contra Costa Continuum of Care hosted a series of “Untapped Talent” virtual forums to share information about populations employers may not have considered hiring but who can offer amazing talents and skills if given the chance. The Feb. 8 forum focused on people experiencing homelessness and featured two individuals who shared their lived experiences. One of the panelists was Yesenia Pleitez. Standing strong after childhood trauma, drug abuse and homelessness, Yesenia is now a Lead Outreach Worker withCoordinated Outreach Referral, Engagement (C.O.R.E.).
