Annual Home Visits are Vital in Providing Services
The sun was already low when our team arrived.
A small home stood quietly at the edge of the village. Inside, a grandmother welcomed them with a wave and a beautiful smile — the guardian of two sponsored children. As they sat together, she shared her story: loss, hardship, and the daily challenge of providing even the basics.
When asked what sponsorship meant to her family, her eyes filled with tears.
"Without this support… I don’t know where these children would be."
Before leaving, our team joined hands with her and the children and prayed. In that simple moment — in a humble home, far from the spotlight — the true impact of sponsorship was felt. Not just in education. But in hope, dignity, and the reminder that they are not alone.
“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress…” – James 1:27
Why These Visits Matter
Each year, our team in Uganda goes beyond the classroom and into the homes of the children you sponsor.
They sit with families, listen to their stories, pray together, and strengthen the partnership that makes this mission possible.
Because this work is not done for families — it is done with them.
Each visit gives us something we cannot learn from a report card alone — a true picture of a child’s daily life.
What We Saw
During our most recent home outreach, our team visited 160 families, representing 198 sponsored children across three general regions and many sub regions (see map above).
What they found was both sobering and deeply hopeful.
Many families live in:

Extreme poverty, relying on farming or day labor

Homes with limited or no electricity, restricting study time

Situations marked by loss, separation, or instability
And yet…
They also found:
- Parents who deeply value education
- Children growing in character, faith, and resilience
- Families filled with gratitude for sponsorship
The Reality Children Face
These visits revealed the weight many children carry:
- Raised by single parents or guardians
- Living through trauma or loss
- Facing untreated health challenges
- Studying without adequate lighting
- Limited understanding of child protection and rights
These are not just statistics — they are daily realities.
The Impact of Sponsorship
