Message from Meryl Nason, President

Rosh Hashanah Message for the Intracontinental Region of WLCJ

As we welcome Rosh Hashanah and the beginning of 5787, our hearts turn toward renewal, reflection, and hope. This sacred season reminds us that every new year is an invitation — to deepen our commitments, to strengthen our connections, and to bringmore compassion and purpose into the world.

In the IntraContinental Region of Women’s League for Conservative Judaism, we know the power of women leading with intention. Each sisterhood, each community, each act of learning or service adds to the tapestry of Jewish life we are privileged to sustain. As President, I am continually inspired by your dedication, your creativity, and your unwavering belief in the importance of our shared mission.

May the sound of the shofar awaken in us a renewed sense of possibility. May the

sweetness of apples and honey remind us of the blessings we carry and the blessings we can create. And may this new year bring health, joy, and peace to you, your families, and our entire region.

Shanah tovah u’metukah — may 5787 be a year of strength, connection, and

meaningful growth for all of us.

Spotlight: Shearith Israel Sisterhood in Dallas

Shearith Israel SISterhood in Dallas kicked off its Torah Fund campaign with a Pin

Party in honor of its 2026-27 honorees, Debbie Weinstein and Shayna Weinstein

McKim, on Aug. 30. The mother and daughter are being recognized for their

longtime volunteer leadership with the congregation and SISterhood. For more than 15 years, they have co-chaired the annual Tootsie Fonberg, z”l, Mah Jongg

Tournament, which raises funds for synagogue and Sisterhood programs.

The party’s 25 attendees have already pledged at the Benefactor level and above.

They received their pins which they plan to wear during the High Holidays to remind fellow congregants to support Torah Fund. The party was hosted by Nancy and Joel Roffman. Meryl Nason, President of the IntraContinental Region of WLCJ, also attended.

Spotlight: Congregation Anshai Torah- Plano Texas

“What an incredible way for Congregation Anshai Torah in Plano, Texas to kick off the Sisterhood year! Our Mahjong event brought together almost 90 women of all ages for an afternoon of fun, learning, and connection. Women enjoyed playing and learning Mahjong, along with Mahjong-themed raffles and delicious snacks.

With nearly 90 attendees, this was one of the largest Sisterhood events we’ve ever had! It was wonderful to see so many women of all generations come together, make new connections, and enjoy time as a community. A fantastic start to the year!”

Please join us for our first Region event!

Yes, I know that Rosh Hashanah begins Friday night September 11th.

Is it on my calendar? Of course it is!

Have I planned my holiday menus? Somewhat....

Have I been blowing shofar with friends in the mornings during Elul?  Yes, I have.

Have I sent my Rosh Hashanah cards to my family and friends?  Whoops, not yet.

Fortunately, Womens' League offers us a convenient and meaningful way to send our holiday greetings. So, if you are in my boat, please join me in supporting the Torah Fund scholarship campaign by sending your holiday wishes with Torah Fund E-cards. The donation is $5.00 per E-card greeting. Please use the links below.

Here are the links to the Torah Fund E-Cards.
