Intro to Windsurfing Series coming to

 Windsurfing is Fun and EASY.  That's our motto at Windsurfing-Maine. Since 1999 we have taught (literally) thousands to windsurf with a 97% completion rate and 35% "dry hair rate" on the first day.
  Learning is easy and we really enjoy bringing the coolest sport on top of the water to folks of all ages.

 You'll first practice all new techniques on our Dry Land Simulator. This allows for fine-tuning your skills before heading out on the water.

   At Windsurfing-Maine our oldest student is over 70, and our youngest only 5 years old.

   For this program a minimum age of 8 is required.

 All sessions begin at 3:00pm unless otherwise notified.   
    Cancellation: In the event of a cancellation due to weather restrictions, a  make-up session date will be scheduled.
     Absentee: Students are allowed to make-up one missed date, at the instructors convenience.

Introduction to Windsurfing

at 

Portland's Eastern Prom 

 

Course Description:

    This program will run 5 weeks beginning Tuesday May 7th at East End Beach.

    Students will learn all of the fundamentals of Windsurfing using our time tested, USSailing format, employing Land Simulation, Water Simulation, and Open water exercises.

    Skills covered will include:

  • Basic Windsurfing Skills
  • Safety & Self Rescue
  • Navigation
  • Equipment
  • Understanding Wind & Weather
  • Advanced Windsurfing Techniques

Equipment  
  •    All Windsurfing equipment (sails, boards, mast, boom, etc) is provided for the duration of the course.  Windsurfing equipment is very size specific according to the height and weight of each student. Subsequently, students will need to submit their sizes before May 1st.
  •   Wetsuits: Students will need to  a full length wetsuit at least 2mm in thickness. Rental wetsuits are available for an additional $25. At Barclay's we sell many wetsuits for many different uses, if you'd like, we can advise you on the best wet-suit for you and your water sports needs.
  •   Foot protection: Water temps can be cold in Maine, Windsurfing requires a minimum of 3mm thick neoprene booties to ensure warmth and comfort. Rental booties are available for an additional $16. Again, we stock many sizes & styles , please contact us if you'd like some help with purchasing boots.
  •    PFD: Students will need to provide their own Coast Guard approved pfd/lifejacket for the course.

ianreach    Upon completion of the course you'll be ready to have fun any time that the Wind is up, on almost any body of water.

     Like Down-Hill skiing, Windsurfing is a sport that can be enjoyed by the novice recreational enthusiast (like skiing on the Green trails) all the way to the hardcore thrill seeking extreme sports fanatic ( i.e. Black Diamond)

      After completion, W-M has rentals available at Portland's Eastern Prom, our North Leeds location, or at your location.

 

 

Course Tuition:

 $250.

    includes all windsurfing equipment usage for the duration of the course.
