Prevention in Partnership Spotlight: The Oklahoma Commission on Children and Youth

We are excited to continue our Prevention in Partnership series by highlighting a community partner each month in our newsletter! This month, we would like to recognize the work of the Oklahoma Commission on Children and Youth (OCCY).

Since 1982, the Oklahoma Commission on Children and Youth has helped create quality systems for children, youth, and families by bringing accountability and independent oversight into Oklahoma’s child and youth service system. Its mission is to improve services to Oklahoma’s children by planning, coordinating, and communicating with communities as well as between public and private agencies. Parent Promise plants pinwheel gardens for Pinwheels for Prevention

Parent Promise is proud to have partnered with agencies including the Potts Family Foundation, the Oklahoma Commission on Youth and Children, Sunbeam Family Services, and more during April for Pinwheels for Prevention. The pinwheel is the national symbol for child abuse prevention as it embodies the whimsy and joy of childhood. Agencies across Oklahoma planted pinwheels gardens to raise awareness around the need for the prevention of child abuse and neglect in Oklahoma.
