I am thrilled to share with you the announcement from our Discernment Team and Board of Directors that Andy Noethe has accepted the position of Community Leader/ExecutiveDirector for L'Arche Portland. I want to express my gratitude to you for helping to lay the groundwork, through your support of L'Arche, for this important new development in the life of our community.
Having just celebrated our 25th Anniversary and the launch of our Sign of Hope Campaign, we are poised to enter into a period of growth and expansion. Andy brings the skills and competence needed to lead us into this new era of increased impact, transforming the lives of many more people with and without intellectual disabilities.
Andy brings a wealth of gifts professionally. First and foremost, he excels at creating communities of honesty, integrity, and non-violence with people marginalized by society. In addition, he comes with a developed network in the nonprofit and faith-based sectors, and he brings great potential to help elevate awareness about the impact of L'Arche Portland. Andy appreciates the value of partnership, and he has proven experience in cultivating key relationships through his work as Director of Programs at Saint Andre Bessette Catholic Church (formerly the Downtown Chapel).
Perhaps even more important than his education and professional experience, it is Andy's gentle, calm, and confident demeanor that we are most excited about. Andy had very positive and meaningful interactions with each of the core members. He has a pastoral presence about him and he values servant leadership. Andy will begin his role on June 17th. He is eager to spend time listening to and learning from our community members, house teams, leadership team, administrative staff, and the Board of Directors. Andy will have the opportunity to overlap with Susan as a part of his initial orientation to the role before she fully enters her sabbatical year at the end of the month.
