Dear Chorister Families,

I am thrilled to announce that Anna Teagarden will be joining our Music and Worship staff April 1, as the new Associate Director of Music for Children and Youth. Anna has been the Director of Children’s Music at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church for fifteen years where she directs a chorister program of over 100 participants. Previously, she was the Director of Music and Fine Arts at the Fay School where she built the music program from the ground up. Additionally, she is the course manager for the Royal School of Church Music Gulf Coast Course which occurs each June in Houston.

Anna is charismatic and brings a broad range of gifts. She is enthusiastic about teaching and nurturing children and helping them discover and express themselves through music. She enjoys collaboration with the broader ministries of the church, especially those involving children, education, and worship. I am confident she will be a valuable resource to our family ministries. Additionally, she is an acclaimed soprano soloist and has sung in many of the world’s cathedrals. Anna takes great joy in developing and building programs. As we come out of COVID and begin a new chapter under the leadership of our new rector, the Rev. Dr. Leigh Spruill, it is a great time for Anna to begin her ministry with us, especially as we build upon the legacy and exceptional work of Lois Trego and look forward to what God is calling us to be.

I am excited about the work Elizabeth Schneider continues to do with our choristers as Interim Director. Know that she will remain with us through the end of the choir year in May. It is an exciting time in the life of our parish, and I look forward with anticipation to our next chapter.

Warm regards,

Steven Newberry
Director of Music and Worship
