President's Letter: Become a Disciples Advocate

A key part of DHM’s mission is speaking and acting to promote greater justice and mercy in society. The times we live in call for creative and compelling ways to do this work. DHM is pleased to announce the relaunch of it’s longstanding publication Disciples Advocate as an innovative distribution channel and a connection space that empowers Disciples Home Missions to bring a coordinate approach to promoting greater justice and mercy in the world.

The relaunched Disciples Advocate is intended for congregations, Regions, clergy and laypeople, General Ministries and our partners. By amplifying the work of scholars, activists, community organizers, and church members at work on the frontlines of justice we will deepen our connections, elevate opportunities, and serve God in new and exciting ways.

The Disciples Advocate platform will focus on three things:

  • Connecting Through WhatsApp Community & Groups, Social Media Integration and a network of Disciples Advocate Ambassadors we want to help Disciples find each other in the work for justice.
  • Creating Greater Awareness Through Blog Posts and Article Recommendations, Webinars and Podcasts, and Realtime Alerts we will help spread the word about issues and opportunities.
  • Inspiring and Empowering Action By promoting opportunities to engage (at the local and regional level), Sharing Action Alerts, and Amplifying Voting Rights and Voter Registration work we'll help Disciples get active in their communities and ministry contexts.

We hope you'll join us and become a Disciples Advocate!
