Dear Bill,

I am thrilled to tell you about the launch of a new brand, including a modern logo and a completely revamped website, for Fair Labor Association (FLA). I hope you agree that these new communication tools reflect FLA’s global, multistakeholder, and innovative work at the intersection of business and human rights.

When FLA launched 22 years ago, email had yet to revolutionize our lives, and the internet was only beginning to connect us across borders. In the time since, FLA has grown on and offline with hundreds of affiliated companies, universities, and civil society organizations working in dozens of countries around the world.

Our new brand is a dynamic portrayal of FLA today that will lead us into the future. Perhaps you are wondering about the elements of our new logo. Here’s an overview of the design:

Multistakeholder: The three interlocking strands represent the caucuses (CSO, University, and Business) that comprise our network.

Transparent: The three strands are visible where they cross over, representing our commitment to openness and information-sharing across sectors.

Trust: The color blue represents stability, sincerity, and trust — values inherent in our current work and guideposts for our future. The gradients of blue represent the interrelated yet separate nature of each caucus.

Purpose: The strands form an arrow that indicates forward direction, symbolizing the energy and intention our members bring to implementing FLA standards.

Mission: You’ll notice that we emphasize “Fair Labor” in the logo. We are still “Fair Labor Association” (with “FLA” as our acronym), but we are excited that our new logo puts front and center what we are aiming for as an organization.

The new logo and the values that inform it are the foundation on which we built our website. We simplified the menu and layout so that navigation is intuitive and user-friendly for audiences, new and old.

The website will be the hub for you and other stakeholders to understand our standards and stay up-to-date on our work.

I hope you will explore the new website and discover something that informs or inspires. Thank you for your past interest in and support of our organization. We are excited to look ahead as we continue putting fairness to work.

Sincerely,

Sharon
