Greetings!

On this beautiful first day of May our thoughts turn to Spring and the new life it brings. This week our two new product introductions fit perfectly into that theme.

First, we are pleased to announce that we have a new tilapia fingerling variety to offer you - the Hawaiian Gold Tilapia!  While this beautiful, golden fish may be new to us here on the Mainland it actually accounts for about 60% of the tilapia raised in Hawaii.

The second new product offering is a Seed Starting Kit, which included a vented humidity dome, 72 cell insert tray, and a water-tight bottom tray.  AND to celebrate May Day we are including 3 FREE seed packets - a $7.50 value - if you order two!

This newsletter also features two blog posts that are about aquaponics as an ecosystem - 12 Ways that Aquaponics Differs From Hydroponics, and Aquaponics and Biomimicry.

We hope you enjoy our "ode to spring"!

Sincerely,

Sylvia Bernstein, President

NEW!
Hawaiian Gold Tilapia!

These beautiful, hardy fish have been the favorites of our Hawaiian friends for years...and now you can experience for yourself why they are so popular!

This Mozambique Golden Tilapia strain has been cultured in Hawaii for over 20 years.  Throughout that time, they have been selectively bred for fast growth, consistent color and excellent disease resistance.  They are both males and females of a GMO free pure strain that will breed true for generation after generation.

You are responsible for understanding the fish import regulations for your state. If there is any question as to whether tilapia can be legally shipped over your state borders please contact your fish and game department to learn more before ordering.

Please note that we only ship to the 48 contiguous United States.

Aquaponics and Biomimicry

"We need to quiet our cleverness..."

I was first introduced to Biomimicry and the work of Janine Benyus through a TED talk only a few months ago, but I've become convinced that biomimicry is a terrific framework for thinking about aquaponics as the replication of a natural ecosystem.
