WELCOME ABOARD
United Way Welcomes Justus Hillebrand as Food Hub Coordinator
United Way recently received a three-year grant from the Betterment Fund to research food insecurity in Greater Franklin County and implement ways to best meet people’s needs based on the data collected. We are excited that Justus Hillebrand will be leading this effort in a part-time role.

Justus has spent more than a decade researching Maine's past. Now, he is excited to expand his focus on the present to help understand and improve the community he calls home.
Justus received his B.A. and M.A. from the University of Cologne, Germany, and his doctorate in History from the University of Maine. After moving back and forth between his native Germany and Farmington since 2011, he and his family settled in Farmington in 2020. Apart from his work with United Way, he is founder and director of Digital History Consulting, Inc. and a member of the Greater Franklin County Food Council steering committee.
United Way is Excited to Welcome Abigail Moreau from UMF
Abby will be interning with United Way this semester to fulfil her community health degree requirements. She is a senior at the University of Maine at Farmington and in her last semester pursuing a double major bachelor’s degree in Biology Pre-Med and Community Health. She keeps busy with school and is also currently working as a pharmacy technician.

In her free time, she enjoys exploring new hiking trails in the surrounding areas and spending time at the Sandy River. Abby is interested in how this internship will provide her with the opportunity to learn first-hand how non-profit organizations run, and shares,
“I am also excited to gain a better understanding on how to find and connect individuals with the resources they need.”

Abby’s future plans include work in emergency medicine, and she hopes to use the knowledge gained from the community health field to develop long lasting success plans for the people she works with. “I am looking forward to all of the opportunities that United Way has to offer and am very thankful for this opportunity!”
