That is how ASCRS President Elizabeth Yeu, MD describes her surgical experience with MICOR 700, an advanced technology that changes how a lens is removed from the eye during cataract surgery.
In the first-ever presentation of this device at the recent ASCRS meeting in San Diego, Dr. Yeu commented on the advantages of MICOR 700 compared with phaco emulsification:
· Single-use disposable handheld device for lens extraction
· Improved surgeon control by eliminating the foot pedal
· Innovative design to reduce risk of bag rupture and iris tear
· Hand-sized footprint and less waste of materials
Equally important, Dr. Yeu emphasized how much better this technology is for her surgical team, reducing turnaround time as well as eliminating many of the steps required in performing traditional cataract surgery with phaco.
Surgeons who have already used this technology believe it sets a new standard for efficiency, safety and sustainability. Here are comments by several surgeons along with seeing MICOR 700 in use: Click here or the image below to watch.
