March 2024 Newsletter

Dear Friends,

This month, we want to thank our supporters for being a part of our growing family! Our programmatic work strengthens our community every day by uplifting women and families. My Sister's Place is committed to empowering survivors and working alongside families to achieve safety and self-sufficiency well beyond MSP. Together, with your continued support, we are creating safer communities where survivors can thrive.

We are honored to share Sadie's* success story regarding her path to stability.

On the day before Thanksgiving, our courageous client Sadie and her young infant reached out to us through our shelter line, seeking help to break free from their unsafe environment. With the help of our RISE program, she was connected to the resources she needed to move forward in a safe environment, including childcare, language courses, and legal assistance. Sadie has achieved remarkable success these past few months through hard work and determination. She is now securing a path to a prosperous career as a peer mediator and living a life free from violence and financial insecurity.

Sadie's story is a testament to the power of resilience and the difference that support through programming and community can make. MSP believes these successes positively contribute to our community's goal of ending domestic violence.

That's why we're thrilled to introduce new programming at MSP to promote future success for all MSP clients:

NEW Workforce Development Program

Our new in-house program provides survivors with a personalized professional development plan, including resume building, education assistance, and networking. Our resident staff expert, Ricardo Washington, offers holistic support through monthly workshops and one-on-one sessions to achieve growth aspirations for each client beyond traditional job training.

NEW Life Skills Workshops

As part of our commitment to a cumulative care approach, MSP offers monthly life skills workshops that provide clients with scheduled engagement opportunities to hear from experts in various fields, such as trauma care, food wellness, and tenant education.
