INTRODUCING MIDDLE SCHOOL SPARK WEEK

This November, we are excited to bring our middle school conservatory programs together for four days of creativity, collaboration, and discovery! The week before Thanksgiving Break, Monday, November 16 – Thursday, November 19, CSArts-SGV will offer its first-ever Middle School Spark Week in the place of regular middle school conservatory classes.

Middle School Spark Week is a special opportunity for students to step outside their artistic comfort zones, collaborate with peers from other conservatory programs, and explore new ways of creating together.

Middle school students will participate in special Spark Week programming at their respective campuses, Maxwell Academy – An IB World School or Royal Oaks STEAM Academy.

MAXWELL ACADEMY

CSArts-SGV Variety Show

It's time to put on a show! Throughout Spark Week, Maxwell students will work in small groups with peers from different conservatories to create, produce, and perform original variety show acts celebrating CSArts-SGV's 10th Anniversary!

Students will bring their own artistic strengths to the table while learning new skills from one another. Over four days, students will brainstorm ideas, develop their acts, and rehearse, culminating in a collaborative variety show full of music, dance, theatre, and more.

On Friday, November 20 at 4 p.m., students will present their work for family and friends on the Cafeteria Stage in the Maxwell Academy Auditorium.

Important Note for School of Dance and School of Music Families: During Spark Week, School of Dance and School of Music middle school students will remain at Maxwell Academy for Spark Week activities rather than taking the bus to the CSArts-SGV campus. Parents/guardians should plan to pick up their students from the Maxwell Academy campus at the conclusion of class at 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. On Friday, parents/guardians are welcome to attend the Variety Show performance from 4-5:30 p.m.

ROYAL OAKS ACADEMY

Zine Week

Get ready to turn your ideas into something you can hold in your hands and share with friends! During Spark Week, Royal Oaks students will explore the intersection of creative writing and visual arts as they create their own personal zines – small, handmade publications that combine writing, artwork, and creative expression.

Students will have the opportunity to experiment with storytelling, illustration, and design to develop unique keepsakes that reflect their own artistic voices. The week will also provide opportunities for students to share their creations and celebrate one another's work.

Whether you're stepping onto the stage or putting your creativity onto the page, Spark Week is all about trying something new, learning from one another, and celebrating the incredible artistic community at CSArts-SGV.

We’ll continue to share reminders and details as we approach this exciting week.

We can’t wait to see what spark you ignite!
