Campion Rink, named for James W. Campion, a civic-minded local businessman, served Hanover and the surrounding area well. Operating seven days per week, six months per year, 30 organizations including five high school hockey teams, a youth hockey organization, figure skating clubs, and men’s and women’s recreational hockey groups use the space. The skating rink was built in 1985 in a building donated by Dartmouth College and constant use by all ages over three decades can get tiring for an old recreational facility, so the time finally came for upgrades.
Understanding the importance of this facility to New Hampshire’s Upper Valley, Moosilauke Visions has made a $100,000 donation to the Hanover Improvement Society, a nonprofit organization that owns and operates Campion Rink.
“On behalf of the Renew Campion capital project, Hanover Improvement Society is grateful for the extremely generous support of Moosilauke Visions. Thanks to Jay Wolter and his team, Campion will remain a vital recreational facility for Upper Vally families for decades to come,” Jeff Graham, General Manager of Hanover Improvement Society, wrote in a recent email to us.
