Introducing Movo: A New Way to Connect with Prospective Families

As part of our ongoing membership growth efforts, Greater LA Scouting has launched Movo, a new technology designed to make it easier for units to connect with families interested in Scouting through BeAScout.org.

Movo officially launched this weekend and will now help respond to online inquiries from families looking for information about local Scouting units.

What is Movo?

Movo is a virtual assistant that helps answer common questions from families interested in joining Scouting. It can provide information about:

  • Meeting days, times, and locations
  • Costs and registration
  • How to visit a unit meeting
  • General questions about your Scouting program
  • Other frequently asked questions

Movo can respond within minutes and at any time of day, helping families get the information they need without requiring unit leaders to constantly monitor an inbox.

When a family asks a question that Movo cannot answer, the unit will receive a notification so a leader can respond when they have a chance.

The goal is simple: help prospective families get answers faster while making it easier for our units to connect with new members.

ACTION REQUIRED: Update Your Unit Pin

Because Movo uses information from your unit's BeAScout.org unit pin, it is extremely important that every unit reviews and updates its pin with current meeting information.

Please make sure your unit pin has accurate information, including:

  • Current meeting day and time
  • Current meeting location
  • Registration and cost information
  • Information about visiting your unit
  • Any other details a new family would need to know

If your unit's information is outdated, Movo may provide prospective families with incorrect information.

Please take a few minutes to review your BeAScout unit pin and make sure all of your current meeting information is accurate.

Movo is now live and actively helping families connect with Scouting. Let's make sure every unit is ready to welcome them!

🍿🎉 AND THE WINNER IS… PACK 490! 🎉🍿

A huge CONGRATULATIONS to Pack 490 from SGV for winning our 2026 Popcorn Kickoff Contest! 🏆

Pack 490 brought the energy, hosted an awesome Popcorn Kickoff, and captured the fun in an amazing photo collage. Thank you for showing us how a great kickoff can get Scouts, families, and leaders excited for a successful popcorn season!

🎉 And there’s more… Pack 490 has WON their $100 unit fee!

That’s right, the council will cover the $100 unit renewal fee for Pack 490!

Historically, units that host a Popcorn Kickoff tend to perform better throughout the campaign. A kickoff is a great way to build excitement, get Scouts motivated, and start the season strong!

Thank you to all of our units who participated in the 2026 Popcorn Kickoff Contest and shared their celebrations with us. We can’t wait to see what you accomplish this popcorn season!

As we work toward our 2026 Council Fundraising Goal, we are asking every unit to participate in the 2026 Popcorn Campaign and help us Keep Scouting Strong.

Imagine if every unit or every Scout sold just 1–2 boxes of popcorn. That small effort, multiplied across our entire council, could make a BIG difference!

Two boxes can be sold to family, friends, neighbors, or coworkers. It’s a simple way for every unit to contribute while still participating in other fundraisers that work best for your families.

Our Council needs your support. Our youth need your support.

The funds raised through popcorn help us continue providing the programs, resources, camps, and support that keep Scouting available to thousands of youth throughout our communities.

JOIN THE 2026 POPCORN CAMPAIGN TODAY!

If every unit does a little, together we can accomplish a lot.

Thank you to Pack 490 for showing us how it’s done—and thank you to every unit standing with us to help Keep Scouting Strong!

🍿 Congratulations, Pack 490!

Now let’s make the 2026 Popcorn Campaign our best one yet!

Pumpkin Smash | November 13–15

Calling all Scouts BSA, Venturers, and Sea Scouts! Bring your leftover Halloween pumpkins and watch them smash, shatter, and splatter during one of our most exciting fall traditions. Spend the weekend camping while taking on archery, shotgun shooting, tomahawk throwing, and other outdoor challenges before giving those pumpkins an unforgettable sendoff. It's the perfect mix of adventure, friendly competition, and Scouting fun you won't want to miss!

Veteran Scouter Pins: Honoring Years of Dedication

Adult Scouters can be recognized as Veteran Scouters after reaching major service milestones. Veteran Scouter Pins are designed for civilian wear, such as a lapel, blazer, or suit, and feature a gold-tone laurel wreath surrounding the recognized milestone year.

Veteran recognition begins after five years of registered service and is available in five-year increments up to 90 years. Service does not have to be continuous, and eligible tenure may include years of service as a youth.

Veteran recognition requires an application through the local council, and recipients must maintain active registration with Scouting America and agree to support and promote Scouting as circumstances permit.

Make Your Case for the Law Merit Badge!

Does your Scout have an interest in law, justice, or how the legal system works? Join us for Law Merit Badge Day and get ready for a day of learning, discovery, and hands-on courtroom experience!

Scouts will work toward completing the requirements for the Law Merit Badge while exploring criminal law, civil law, and legal history. They’ll also put their knowledge into action during a mock trial, giving them a chance to experience what it’s like to participate in a courtroom.

The event is hosted by the Legal Eagles, a group of legal professionals who are also Eagle Scouts and volunteer their time to give back to the Scouting community. They’ll share their knowledge and experience while helping Scouts discover how the law shapes our everyday lives.
