With the seasons’ transition from summer to fall come many transitions underway at Holden Village!
With deep gratitude to Peg Carlson-Hoffman and Chuck Hoffman who have led the Village for the past five years, we enthusiastically begin our new journey as Executive Directors.
Allow us to introduce our three-person team (left to right in the photo above): Mark Bach, Kathie Caemmerer-Bach, and Stacy Kitahata.
We are called to the wilderness to nurture Holden Village for the Life of the World. We hold common commitments to nurturing and empowering community that engages diversity, interfaith dialogue, spiritual practice, environmental justice, and holy hilarity. Together with the whole Village we enthusiastically create a community of practice, spiritual life, and wellness.
During these uncharted times the staff and volunteers here in the Railroad Creek Valley work hard to care for one another, and adapt rhythms of community for the future. Their hard work, care, creativity, and resourcefulness are keeping this place vibrant and alive.
We are monitoring the daily changes in COVID-19 protocols, and we look forward to the time when buses full of travelers make their way up the road again for some holy hilarity in this extraordinary mountain valley! Meanwhile, there are many other ways to participate in the life of Holden Village. Scroll for an introduction to the Fall Auction, full of quintessential Holden items and experiences.
In closing, we share an inspiring excerpt from “Blessing for a New Position” by John O’Donohue that was offered upon our arrival in the Village:
May your new work excite your heart,
Kindle in your mind creativity
To journey beyond the old limits
Of all that has become wearisome.
May this work challenge you toward
New frontiers that will emerge
As you begin to approach them,
Calling forth from you the full force
And depth of your undiscovered gifts.
May the work fit the rhythms of your soul,
Enabling you to draw from the invisible
New ideas and a vision that will inspire.
-John O’Donohue
