Dear Colleagues, Partners, and Friends,

We are excited to share two new updates. Last month, the Biden-Harris administration released an Executive Order establishing the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. This Order reaffirms the U.S. Government’s longstanding commitment to strengthen partnerships with faith-based and community organizations, noting that these partnerships are “vital for the success and effectiveness of the United States’ diplomatic, international development, and humanitarian work around the world.” As a result of the Order, USAID's Center for Faith and Opportunity Initiatives will now be the Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships (FBNP).

More exciting news: This month, we welcomed Adam Nicholas Phillips as the Director of both FBNP and the Local, Faith, and Transformative Partnerships (LFT) Hub at USAID. The LFT Hub houses FBNP along with several other USAID initiatives focused on building partnerships with nontraditional and diverse organizations. Adam will work with the LFT Hub initiatives as well as the FBNP centers across the federal government to advance international development, humanitarian, and diplomacy efforts. Learn more about the Administration's vision for FBNP.

We will host a meet and greet with Adam on Wednesday, March 31. Check out event details below and a video message from Adam himself.

Hope to see you at the meet and greet next week!

Best regards,

Greetings from Director Adam Nicholas Phillips

Hi all! I’m honored to serve as FBNP's Director at USAID, working alongside colleagues and partners of faith and no particular faith who are passionate and mission-driven to stand with neighbors around the world for development and humanitarian assistance, democracy, and human rights. As a pastor and advocate, I am humbled by this moment, especially with the COVID-19 pandemic, and eager to jump in. I will be relocating with my family to DC from Portland, where I founded Christ Church: Portland, the first of its kind inclusive faith community in Oregon. I know I'm joining a great team and look forward to working with you all.
