Commercial Service Launch Tremendous Success...Residential Service Launch Coming Soon

More than 35,000 business customers – or 94.48% of eligible businesses – across the cities of Buena Park, Fullerton, Huntington Beach and Irvine began receiving renewable energy as a cleaner source of power in April leading Orange County toward a more sustainable future.

“Boomers in Irvine is proud to be using 100% renewable energy from the Orange County Power Authority to support our sustainability goals. It’s the right thing to do, to be good stewards of the environment and the communities where we do business.” - Tim Murphy, CEO

OCPA’s three-tier program allows businesses control over energy consumption like never before. Customers can choose from 100% renewable energy, which costs slightly more than Southern California Edison (SCE), Smart Choice, which provides 69% renewable energy or OCPA Basic Choice, equal in cost to SCE. To see how rates are calculated, check out our rate comparison calculator or give us a call, and we’d be happy to walk you through the best option for your business.

The power to choose is coming to residential customers in OCPA member communities in October. Keep an eye on your mailbox for information.

Renewable Energy has been powering California communities for decades. In 2002, the State Legislature allowed for cities and counties to procure electricity for customers within their respective jurisdictions. Called Community Choice Aggregators (CCAs), local government agency’s like OCPA are able to purchase renewable energy on behalf of their communities, while still receiving transmission and distribution service from SCE. There are 24 CCAs operating across California, serving over 11 million customers. By 2025 it is expected that 85% of California will be using community choice energy.
