Human Trafficking Task Force

On July 12 members of the Southern Nevada Human Trafficking Task Force Education Committee presented "Human Trafficking 101" at the Quarterly Collaborative meeting at Las Vegas Metro Police Department HQ.

The Shade Tree is fortunate enough to have our Executive Assistant, Jessica Shanley, on the task force. Shanley studied Criminology at Deakin University, Australia. Her dissertation, Children for Sale in America's Playground, examined domestic minor sex trafficking in the United States with a focus on Las Vegas.

We are looking for Once Upon a Gala volunteers! Join us for the biggest event of the year, on Thursday, October 12, as we celebrate the accomplishments of The Shade Tree and reflect on the incredible impact on our community. Third-Party Fundraiser Highlight- Party for Good!

Happy Birthday Joel! On August 4, Joel Scott of Nigro Construction hosted his birthday party as a fundraiser for The Shade Tree. The party included entertainment, delicious food & drinks, a raffle with some amazing prizes and more! The event raised over $13,000 for The Shade Tree! Thank you Joel for selecting us as your birthday beneficiary!

At Party for Good, Joel Scott surprised us with a Proclamation from City of Las Vegas and Mayor Carolyn Goodman declaring The Shade Tree Day on August 8, 2023. We wore pink to celebrate this significant day honoring the life-changing work we do in the Las Vegas community.

The team from Mirage by Hard Rock International came to our shelter and treated our clients to a Life is Sweet party. Our clients and their kids enjoyed interactive and delicious dessert and activity stations and quality time with the Mirage volunteers. Thank you for providing our clients with fun activities and sweet treats!
