Introducing Dr. Bonnie Martinez
We are pleased to welcome Bonnie Martinez, PhD
to our adjunct faculty
. Prof. Martinez will teach chemistry to our upper school students.
Prof. Martinez earned her bachelor's degree in chemistry from Marietta College and her doctorate in organic chemistry from Lehigh University. "We are very excited to introduce a Chemistry course into our high school curriculum, and to have an instructor of the caliber of Dr. Martinez is a privilege for our students," commented Headmaster Ben Rutherford. Martinez also teaches several chemistry courses at Marietta College.
When asked why she enjoys teaching chemistry, Prof. Martinez said she loves to see the "light turn on" when a student understands a new concept. "There is nothing better than to see the joy and enthusiasm on their faces when they are conducting an experiment and investigating a question that they want to further understand," she stated. She is also keenly aware that the sciences help us understand God's creation. "As a scientist, I am in awe of the difference between a living and a non-living system. Despite mankind's incredible scientific and technological advances, no one has been able to create life. Without God's hand, we would not be," she concluded.
Prof. Martinez has two adult children and one daughter in high school. She lives in Marietta and enjoys hiking and gardening. Prof. Martinez will be conducting both chemistry lectures and labs at VCA. Please help us welcome to our school family, Dr. Bonnie Martinez.
