Transportation

Maryland Governor Wes Moore and Secretary of Transportation Paul Wiedefeld visited GBC Offices for a high-level strategy session to outline the steps needed to get the Red Line done as part of Baltimore's Transit Future. View Slideshow

Housing Vacancy & Redevelopment

GBC President & CEO joined with Baltimore City Mayor Brandon Scott and the faith-based coalition BUILD to announce GBC's intention to address nearly 70,000 vacant and near-vacant properties. Watch the Video

Advancing Infrastructure

On July 14th, GBC President & CEO was one of several civic leaders from the Baltimore region on-hand to welcome Vice President Kamala Harris during her visit to Coppin State University to announce the launch of a $20 billion program to stimulate clean energy investments in underinvested communities. Advancing Infrastructure

GBC Director of Policy and Research Nick Henninger-Ayoub was named to a two-year term as a Member of the Commission on Transportation Revenue and Infrastructure Needs by Maryland Governor Wes Moore. The commission is an important partner with the Maryland Dpeartment of Transportation and Maryland General Assembly on financing infrastructure projects across the state.

Regional 10-Year Strategy

GBC appointed Jennifer S. Vey to serve as the Executive Vice President of Policy and Research. A Baltimore City resident, Vey comes to GBC from the Brookings Institution, where she served as Senior Fellow and Director of the Anne T. and Robert M. Bass Center for Transformative Placemaking, a research center focused on the intersection between placemaking and inclusive economy building. 

Collective Impact: Reducing Gun Violence

GBC hosted U.S. Attorney Erek Barron, Baltimore City Mayor Brandon Scott, and Acting Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley to discuss lessons learned and actionable strategies for reducing criminal activity in the Baltimore region.

Going forward, GBC Public Safety Data Officer Jeff Zuback will provide GBC Partners with a monthly trends report on key data points related to the public safety challenge of gun violence in the Baltimore region. Read the first edition here.
