LADWP in the Community
55th Street Water Main Break Response
On Friday, December 21, a 24-inch water distribution pipe ruptured on 55th Street in South L.A. causing damage to some vehicles and hampering access to some nearby residences. LADWP crews jumped into action to stop the leak, repair the broken main and restore water service to drinking water quality level in time for the Christmas holiday, all while making arrangements to meet the immediate needs of displaced residents . Woolsey Fire Response

In November, LADWP crews closely monitored the Woolsey fire and coordinated closely with both LA County and LA City fire departments to assist as needed and support firefighting efforts. Read more .

Partnering with Neighborhood Councils

LADWP is the only department in the City of Los Angeles with a formal Memorandum of Understanding with Neighborhood Councils committing to regular and ongoing communication about department programs and policies. The DWP-NC MOU and Advocacy Committees meet every first Saturday of the month at 8:45 a.m. at the LADWP Headquarters, 111 N. Hope St., Los Angeles, CA 90012. Join us!
