New Pro/Angle® Website

In July we launched the new Pro/Angle® website. The site contains information on our original 100% angular bunker sand Pro/Angle, including upcoming events, distributors, installations, and a blog that will updated monthly.

R.W. Sidley was featured in the latest publication of Portable Plants magazine. The article focuses on the new wash plant Sidley recently installed in our west pit in Thompson, OH, to process silica sand and gravel. The new plant from Maverick Environmental Equipment, Newbury, OH, replaced an older wash plant that was originally built in the 1940's. Click here to read the full article.

All of us at R.W. Sidley would like to congratulate Mark Miller on his retirement and impressive career in the concrete industry. Miller Bros. Concrete has been a ready-mix concrete customer of ours since 1978!

It's not hard to find a project that Mark worked in Geauga and Lake counties, from residential driveways to large industrial complexes. Mark has worked hard to help build these communities.

Mark is leaving the company in the good hands of his sons Caleb and Tim Miller. We wish him all the best in his retirement!

Women's Rights Walkway

On Thursday, August 25th at 6pm R.W. Sidley, Inc. graciously hosted a fundraiser for the Women's Rights Walkway installed at Lake Erie College. The company's headquarters resides in The Casement House. Frances Casement was a critical leader in the Ohio Women's Suffrage Movement beginning in the 1880's. Frances Casement befriended Susan B Anthony who mentored Frances on how to collect petition signatures, host recruitment events, and organize the state of Ohio's suffrage organizations. Susan B Anthony was a guest in The Casement House on at least three occasions, one of them was during her presentation at the 1885 Ohio Women's Suffrage Association Convention. The fundraiser on August 26th focused on the planning of the 1885 convention. Here is a picture of Frances Jennings Casement as interpreted by Alexandra Starwbridge LEC Alum '21 and Susan B Anthony as interpreted by Ruth Pangrace from Women in History.

What Motivates Us
Each month we highlight a different R.W. Sidley employee, from all divisions in the company as to what motivates them to come to work every day and do their best.
Brad Wienhold, Environmental Health & Safety /
Mine Administration, Aggregates & Mining Division
I started working for R.W. Sidley in the summer of 2016 cutting grass and doing small maintenance projects at J.P. Jenks and bailing hay for Bob Sidley at the farm. Shortly after I completed my degree from Heidelberg University in 2020, I was offered the EHS manager position. Between being the EHS manager and the mine administrator I face new challenges every day that keep me motivated. The biggest motivation for me at R.W. Sidley is the legacy. This company has extremely strong roots. Starting the operations during the heart of the great depression and continuing to grow and improve to where we are today all while facing ups and down throughout the years is extremely impressive. Knowing the adversity the people before me faced and what they overcame I know I have big shoes to fill no matter what my role with the company is. I wake up excited to come to work every day. The opportunities we have to continue to improve and grow are extremely promising and I am working hard every day to do my part to get us there. In our EHS group and the Thompson mine, we have put together strong teams that have an incredible amount of experience and knowledge that when we all team up we can get any job done and done the right way. Learning from Bob Sidley firsthand is also incredibly motivating. Bob pushes us hard and has high expectations for our team. Bob makes it fun working for R.W. Sidley every day. Being pushed to make continuous improvements and make things a little better every day keeps me motivated. Being from Madison, Ohio I grew up hearing the Sidley name and seeing the Sidley trucks going up and down the road. It makes me proud to be a part of this Sidley team and to have an impact on the future of this company.
