The UC Veterinary Medical Center in San Diego has operated as a satellite facility of the UC Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital for more than 20 years. This center of excellence now thrives in collaboration with many San Diego partner institutions and will be expanding into a state-of-the-art facility in 2026, thanks to the generosity of Jan K. Hobbs. This email newsletter will keep you informed about the progress of the center’s move to the state-of-the-art Janice K. Hobbs UC Davis Veterinary Medical Center. We’ll also continue to provide updates and information about the specialty services and care we offer at our current location and medical innovations occurring at UC Davis. Forever Grateful: An Owner’s Story

Susan Walker, a devoted dog rescue volunteer, is forever grateful to the UC Veterinary Medical Center, San Diego for saving the life of her beloved English setter Ella not once, but twice. Learn how the center’s services and expert veterinary care made a difference, and how Walker, in turn, made a gift to the medical center to pay it forward for other companion animals like Ella. It all started on April 14 last year, when Walker went to a friend’s house and was gone for only an hour and a half. Upon returning, she was shocked to find that Ella had ingested a bottle of ibuprofen and began having kidney failure. Facility Update

The architectural schematic design for the Hobbs UC Davis Veterinary Center is complete, and the Design Development phase will conclude by mid-November. With contractor selection underway, we are on track for a Grand Opening in Spring 2026. Read more.
