Introducing the Onguma Dream Cruiser Sleep-Out

DREAM CRUISER

This utterly unique sleep-out experience will appeal to adventurous romantics who dream of spending a night on the wild side!

Onguma's private reserve bordering Etosha National Park in Namibia already has a lot to boast - 84,000 acres of stunning wilderness, great game viewing, romance, tranquility, adventure, and exceptional accommodations. The Dream Cruiser is now added to the list as Onguma's newest and most exciting addition. This is the perfect experience for guests looking for a unique adventure, a romantic night in the wilderness of the reserve, or who want to be as close to nature as possible.

The Dream Cruiser is a custom built Land Cruiser with two levels that sleeps two people. The spacious sleep-out deck features a bed and lounge area with unbeatable views. The bed offers the opportunity to either have a roof with 180-degree views, or to sleep under the vast and awe inspiring starry Namibian night skies.

The inside of the vehicle has been modified to feature a full ensuite bathroom complete with a shower, flush toilet, and basin. Guests conveniently access the ensuite bathroom from the sleep-out deck by a custom hatch with ladder leading down into the surprisingly spacious and efficient bathroom.

Guests will book this experience in conjunction with a lodge of their choice and pack an overnight bag with the essentials. After a leisurely drive through Onguma's wilderness guests will arrive at a perfectly chosen location with spectacular waterhole views where the Dream Cruiser awaits. Welcomed with sundowner drinks and a brief orientation, guests will settle in to their one of a kind accommodation.

A night on the Dream Cruiser calls for al fresco dining as the sun sets over Onguma and the evening sounds start to come alive. A ranger is on call via a two-way radio, so make the most of this time and relax in the safety and complete comfort of this unique space.

Guests will find a picnic-style selection of food and pre-selected chilled drinks on offer. If guests are celebrating, Onguma can arrange a special wine or champagne on request. In the morning, guests enjoy morning coffee/tea with homemade rusks/biscuits before being collected and taken to their lodge for breakfast.

This activity is offered from all five of Onguma Nature Reserve's camps and should be booked in advance, when making your accommodation booking. The Dream Cruiser can also be booked directly at the lodge, but advanced booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.

In case you're wondering where the wild idea for the Dream Cruiser came from, one of our fabulous FAM groups played a major part!

Allow us to set the scene -

Onguma Nature Reserve, November 2019

After a whirlwind 10 night Andrea Hugo Associates FAM Trip led by Emily Johnson, our outstanding group is enjoying their last night in Namibia at Onguma the Fort. Our host is none other than Fritz Vorster himself and spirits are brilliantly high after a full day of exploring all the fantastic activities and experiences Onguma has to offer, topped off with a Boma Evening with live marimba band and plenty of cold drinks. Long after it was time to call it a night, the group manages to convince Fritz to fit in one more adventure - a night cap next to a waterhole atop a Land Cruiser with the most remarkable view of the full moon illuminating the landscape.

There the idea was hatched - "Wow, wouldn't it be great to sleep on top of this game viewer roof, beside a waterhole in the wilderness of the reserve?? What a crazy idea!" The brainstorming extended well into the night without us knowing that our dream would soon become reality with Onguma's Dream Cruiser Sleep-Out! Fritz and Onguma's team took our group's wild idea and ran with it and the outcome could not be more perfect. We are thrilled to have the pleasure of introducing the Dream Cruiser and look forward to promoting this unique experience.
