Re: Introducing the Oracle Toolkit
To: All campus
Jan. 12, 2022

Campus colleagues,

I am pleased to announce the launch of the Oracle Toolkit, a thoughtfully organized collection of knowledge material and training resources for the hundreds of us who depend on UC Merced’s financial management system.
The Oracle Toolkit is an upgrade of the Go-Live Toolkit, which has been available since UC Merced’s Oracle-based system went online in January 2021. The Go-Live Toolkit will be available until Feb. 1, when its web address will redirect automatically to its successor. Please adjust your bookmarks accordingly.

The Oracle Toolkit’s content is organized by the four major ways we use the financial management system:
Each area offers a simple-to-navigate menu of videos, tools and PDF-based guides that cover subjects ranging from creating a faculty portfolio report to setting requisition preferences.
The toolkit also features new, concise videos on accessing the Oracle system and making purchases with Chart of Accounts (CoA) and POET values. Here is one of the videos, which shows how to enter CoA and POET chart strings:
There also is a menu of helpful resources drawn from the Division of Finance and Administration’s ongoing efforts to improve the Oracle system and respond to feedback from the university community. These resources include the Oracle Data Integrity Project and other change initiatives, the Faculty Support Center and the ORED Faculty Toolkit.

The Oracle Toolkit is designed to be pliable – responsive to system upgrades and, most importantly, to your feedback. Please take the Oracle Toolkit for a test drive. Don’t see something you need? Let us know.

Thank you again for your diligence and for sharing your experiences with the Oracle system. We’re listening. Working together, we will align the system into a powerful tool for furthering UC Merced’s mission of teaching, research and community service.

Be well,

Kurt Schnier
Interim Vice Chancellor and Chief Financial Officer
