As the 2018 calendar year comes to an end, we would like to introduce our brand-new Round Up Newsletter! Each month we will highlight some of the collective accomplishments keeping Region 19 at the forefront of education.

In this special 2018 recap edition, take a look back at the work we have done to provide core guidance and support to all districts and remain an engaged partner in the educational communities of El Paso and Hudspeth Counties.

2018 Head Start Holiday Show
ESC Region 19, Head Start, The Rotary Club of El Paso, Wal-Mart, El Paso County Coliseum and Books Are Gems came together to host a Christmas show for over 4,000 Region 19 Head Start preschoolers on Wednesday, Dec. 12.
Sponsors came together to provide children stockings filled with gifts, goodies and a book to encourage literacy.

The annual show is designed to help teach children how to cope with emotions as they sing along with Santa and other favorite characters.
This year’s holiday program brought to life “S.T.A.R. Power in the North Pole” a Christmas play, produced and performed by Head Start employees for Head Start children. 
Teacher of the Year
Presented by ESC Region 19 & TFCU
ESC Region 19, in conjunction with Teachers Federal Credit Union, is pleased to announce the 2019 Teacher of the Year Winners.
 
The awards ceremony took place Saturday August 11, 2018 at the El Paso Convention Center, in front of a crowd of educators, friends, and family. Out of 21 fantastic nominated teachers, Anna Peden, elementary school teacher from Clint ISD and Eduardo Hinojos, secondary teacher from Socorro ISD, were announced as this year's teachers of the year.
Elementary Teacher of the Year
Anna Peden is a 5 th  grade teacher at Desert Hills Elementary School, Clint ISD.
Secondary Teacher of the Year
Eduardo Hinojos teaches government and political science at Americas High School, Socorro ISD.
District TOY Winners
Congratulations to all district Teachers of the Year! These 21 area teachers have been identified by their peers and administrators as being an outstanding example of excellence in the classroom, in their schools and the community.
TFCU Meet & Greet
TOY sponsor TFCU hosted a Meet & Greet where teachers shared heart-felt stories on what inspired them to become educators.
TOY Awards Celebration
The awards ceremony was aired live on ESC Region 19 Facebook and a recap was aired on KCOS-TV, El Paso PBS Station.
Conference Highlights
Culture, Caring and the Classroom
July 12, 2018
Nearly 2,000 educators were inspired and motivated for the new school year after attending ESC Region 19’s 10th Annual Culture, Caring and the Classroom Conference at the Plaza Theatre.
October 19, 2018
The 2nd Annual Mental Health in Schools Regional Conference helped provide educators, school administrators and school personnel with strategies, resources, and tools to improve their effectiveness in working with students who may be dealing with mental health conditions.
December 6-7, 2018
The Together for AUTISM Conference celebrated 15 years in El Paso! This year, the conference featured three keynote speakers, eighteen breakout sessions and presentations from many accomplished and inspiring individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders from throughout the region.
CTE Conference
June 13, 2018
The 2018 "Preparing the Workforce of Tomorrow" CTE Conference was a collaborative effort between ESC Region 19, The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas - El Paso Branch, The Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce, our area school districts, and a number of workforce partners to showcase some of the latest updates for Career and Technical Education.

Region 19, Head Start, & Wells Fargo partnered to award former Head Start students over $100,000 in scholarships and college readiness services.
The ESC Region 19 Head Start Birth to Four Early Education Program continues to successfully provide high quality comprehensive services to 4,375 children and their families from low socioeconomic backgrounds in the El Paso and Hudspeth counties. 
ESC-Region 19 Purchasing contracts are now available to members in 19 states including public schools, charter schools, private schools, community colleges, universities, cities, counties, other governmental agencies, and non-profits.

Professional Development Sessions
Coaching for excellence
The Department of Leadership and Accountability provides the opportunity for school leaders to engage in professional development coaching workshops throughout the year.
Novice Teacher and Mentor Partnership
This session is designed to empower new and novice teachers and their mentors!

Novice teachers:
  • gain valuable tools to build a foundational practice centered by sound principles of teaching

Mentors teachers:
  • enhance coaching skills through leadership structures and engage in learning opportunities to strengthen relationships
