Blue13 Dance Company - NEW!

Contemporary Indian Dance Theatre

Inspired by Bollywood, Bhangra, neo-Kathak, and modern dance, Blue13's signature style is highly energetic, colorful, and interactive. In their newest touring work "Fire and Powder," hip-hop Capulets battle Bollywood Montagues to a rousing score of live drumming and Urban Indian Music.

"Saucy, sassy, and sexy!" (India Journal)

Laurie M. Taylor/Soul Movement - NEW!

Lush Modern Dance with a Groove

Laurie M. Taylor's dance style focuses on "sound perception" in the body,
fusing jazz, African Diaspora, and hip-hop sensibilities.
"Taylor [is] a strong
artistic life force with spiritual honesty, emotional integrity, and sensitivity to the 'groove' in the music." (Jamal Story)

H.T. Chen & Dancers - NEW!

Asian inspired Modern Dance

H.T. Chen & Dancers is an innovative modern dance company which has created a uniquely Asian-American expression by embodying its cultural heritage. Infusing Western modern dance with the strength and beauty of Asian aesthetics, the Company's dynamic style has enchanted audiences across the globe.

"Mr. Chen has long been one of New York dance's most persuasive storytellers, addressing issues of acculturation well before they became fashionable in dance." (The New York Times)

Jamal Jackson Dance Company
West African and Modern Dance

With fast paced, gravity defying movement, Jamal Jackson Dance Company fuses African dance with hip-hop, modern, and storytelling to celebrate the rich diversity of American culture. The company specializes in teaching young people and works with a community drum line to accompany their live performances.

"Here tradition is alive, progressive and in fluid dialogue with the present." (DanceInsider.com)

Illstyle & Peace Productions
Hip-Hop and Modern Dance

Illstyle & Peace Productions creates work rooted in contemporary and old school hip-hop blended with an eclectic mix of modern dance styles. The company is known for delivering a positive message of hope to audiences young and old.
"There's no reason for this work to be kept in a hip-hop box: it's contemporary; end of story." (The New York Times)

Sheetal Gandhi
Multicultural Theatre, Music, and Dance

Gandhi's solo work is sophisticated yet accessible, culturally specific yet border-crossing. In "Bahu-Beti-Biwi," Gandhi uses powerful dance, stirring vocalization, and percussive text to make a profound statement on the traps of tradition for women in patriarchal cultures.

"Each transformation is utterly believable and engaging..." (Herald-Tribune)

Pasin y Arte Flamenco
Contemporary Flamenco Dance

This all-female dance company treasures the traditions of classical flamenco while also seeking to expand the art form in new ways. In their new work, "Complices," they probe into the many conflicting definitions of the 21st century woman.

"The women of Pasin y Arte took the stage like burning embers, searing images...into our memories." (Philadephia Inquirer)
