Invest in Whelden-

Your Village Library

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Thank you for your generous support over the years, especially during the pandemic. Our little library accomplished so much in 2021, and we are asking for your help so that this year we can do more!

Our fundraising goal is $15,000 to cover increasing costs of materials and operations. Please consider a gift of any size.

Whelden is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation, and all gifts and donations are tax deductible.

WHELDEN provides you with valuable FREE services…

  •  A friendly, warm & comfortable place to visit
  • Access to CLAMS – 589,805 books, audiobooks, magazines, movies, and more
  •  Available 24/7 – 702,135 ebooks, digitial audiobooks, and emagazines
  • Streaming services and research tools, too!
  • Live, on-the-go, and remote programs for all ages
  • Computers, Internet, Wi-Fi Hotspots, puzzles and kits
  • And so much more…. WHELDEN is not just books!

FYI: The Town DOES NOT fully fund the library...

The Town of Barnstable provides less than 50% of our funding. Every year, the Trustees must raise tens of thousands of dollars to operate, maintain, and improve the library.

What We Accomplished

  • A fresh new interior: shiny new floors; a bright and spacious feel; and new comfortable furniture
  • On the exterior: New front steps and handrails, a new shed for our year-round bottle and can recycling program; repainted and repaired trim; tree removal to protect the building
  • A beautiful Giant Sculpture by Sandwich artist Michael Magyar of our library logo, a boy reading to his dog
  • A generator for resiliency during a storm
  • Daffodil Delight: Watch for hundreds popping up all over the library grounds!

Meet Our New Director-

Andrea Figaratto

Andrea is no stranger to CLAMS libraries and comes to West Barnstable with a wealth of experience in public libraries. At the Oak Bluffs Library, she coordinated volunteers and provided outreach services, and trained staff and patrons on a wide-range of subjects. Andrea has been a familiar face on the Circulation Desk of several Massachusetts libraries.

At Whelden, look for Andrea to promote library programs, help us keep up with trends, buy great books, and of course, provide the best possible service, and listen to your ideas and concerns.

So if you haven't already, please stop by to say hello to Andrea.

Don't Forget to stop by our Friend of the Whelden Library (FOWL) booksale!

Thank you in advance for your generous support of the Whelden Library. We look forward to seeing you in the library and at our events.
