UArizona will increase support for Hispanic and low-income STEM students with $5M grant

The University of Arizona will be able to support more students – especially those who are Hispanic or from low-income households – studying science, technology, engineering and math, thanks to a nearly $5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The grant will establish Project CREAR, which stands for Culturally Responsive Engagement, Articulation and Research.

On the days that Suzi Eszterhas, award-winning wildlife photographer, is outside taking pictures she realizes that she is calmer, less anxious, and happier than compared to days she spends at a computer. “Nature has always been a large part of my life and helped me feel centered,” said Suzi. “Growing up, I had a big backyard with an acre of open space where I enjoyed watching birds and squirrels. I found peace out in nature.”
