Empowering Our Youth to Strengthen Our Democracy

December 3, 2024

Dear Debbie,

Students for Voting Justice exists to empower our youth to strengthen our democracy – and that matters now more than ever. You can turn young people into champions for democracy with your donation.  Two of our fall interns convey the impact of gifts to SVJ better than we ever could:

“Thank you so much for your donation and support for this amazing internship. This internship for me was about honoring my great grandmother, born in 1932, who raised me and wasn’t able to vote until she was 34. I had the chance to honor her legacy and life in a way that reached thousands of people. This internship reminded me of the power and potential I have and what it means to be young, gifted, and black!” – Ashleigh Johnson

“Your investment in my future allowed me to participate in an incredible opportunity- something truly monumental- with hands on experience and a paid internship. I am deeply grateful, as this support not only enriched my learning but also helped me financially navigate the semester. Being a part of SVJ this year has been an unforgettable experience. It’s not just the skills I’ve gained but also the sense of purpose and confidence I’ve developed that mean so much to me. Thank you for making this possible and for believing in students like me.” – Jaydah Tisdale

We have provided over 600 paid internships since we began in 2020, and current events make us more determined than ever to expand our reach to include more college students and reach more potential voters. But to do this we need your support! The full cost of each intern is about $3,000. That includes stipends, postcard supplies, speaker honorariums and paid social media costs.  The more funds we raise, the more interns we will enroll, and the more voters we will reach. It’s that simple.

This year, a group of generous donors has offered to match every dollar we raise up to $50,000. Please click here to help us meet this match by December 31 so we can continue to involve young people in meeting the challenges that our democracy is facing. They are our best hope!

With continued hope for our democracy,

Claire Ullman & Sandra Radoff
