Appropriations Committee Makes Historic Investment in Community Nonprofits

On April 21, the Appropriations Committee passed a budget as the first part of its plan that includes the full funding requested by The Alliance for community nonprofits. The budget plan increases funding for community nonprofits by $470 million by Fiscal Year 2027, including a $210 million increase by the end of the biennium.  If passed, this would be an unprecedented investment in community nonprofits. The State has never made this significant an investment in the services nonprofits provide to the people of Connecticut. Thank you to all our members for your unrelenting advocacy!

ALLIANCE BUDGET ANALYSIS The FY 22-23 budget plan passed by the Appropriations Committee increases funding for community nonprofits by $470 million by Fiscal Year 2027, including a $210 million increase by the end of the biennium. The timeline proposed by the Committee to increase funding includes: $50 million fiscal year 2021, the current fiscal year; $80 million in each of the fiscal years 2022, 2023, and 2024 $60 million in each of the fiscal years 2025, 2026 and 2027. ALLIANCE HOSTS PRESS CONFERENCE ON NONPROFIT FUNDING

On April 28, The Alliance held a press conference supporting the Appropriations Committee historic plan to increase funding for community nonprofits by $470 million over the next seven years. Appropriations Co-Chairwoman, Senator Cathy Osten, attended in support. "Rep. Walker and I made this a key component of our budget," said Sen. Osten, "If we couldn't do this today, when could we?" Gian-Carl Casa Serving on CCM's ARP Advisory Committee The Alliance's President and CEO, Gian-Carl Casa, is serving on the Connecticut Council of Municipalities ARP Advisory Committee to assist towns and cities on a case-by-case basis to analyze and recommend the use of ARP funds, such as (a) Identifying eligible projects and project planning. (b) Achieving efficiencies and savings in service delivery. (c) Leveraging the funding to generate future revenue, and (d) Reporting.
