Affordable Community Taking Shape in Scotts Valley

Congratulations to our partner CRP Affordable Housing and Community Development on securing financing for Beverly Gardens, a 25-unit community that will provide homes for low-income families and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities - expanding new affordable housing opportunities in Scotts Valley. Housing Trust is pleased to support this project with a $3.27 million acquisition loan through our TECH Fund and the Golden State Acquisition Fund. READ MORE

Transit Oriented Affordable Project Coming to Willow Glen

Congratulations to our long-time partner Resources for Community Development (RCD) on their acquisition closing for 544 West Alma, a new housing development that will bring 90 affordable homes to San Jose’s Willow Glen neighborhood.


Located near Tamien Station, a regional transit hub for both VTA light rail and Caltrain, residents will enjoy easy access to jobs, education, and opportunities throughout the Bay Area.


Helping to finance the acquisition, Housing Trust provided a $5.25 million loan through a combination of capital sources, including the Google Launch Initiative and the Golden State Acquisition FundREAD MORE

From Auto Scrap Yard to Deeply Affordable Homes in Redwood City

Breaking ground on Monarch in Redwood City! Congratulations to our partners Affirmed Housing for breaking ground on Monarch, a new community with 86 affordable homes for families and individuals, including people with special needs. What was once an auto scrap yard will become deeply affordable homes across income levels.


Together with TECH Fund partners, including Google, Housing Trust is helping make Monarch possible with a $6.4 million acquisition loan. Monarch is the fifth project we’ve funded with Affirmed Housing, totaling $23.3 million in catalytic capital. READ MORE

Breaking Ground on a New Future for Downtown Santa Cruz

Breaking ground in downtown Santa Cruz! Co-developers FOR THE FUTURE HOUSING, INC and Eden Housing's Downtown Library & Affordable Housing Project will bring 124 affordable homes for families, along with a modern public library, childcare facility, and community center. Housing Trust is helping make this milestone possible with an $817,000 predevelopment loan through our TECH Fund and our partnership with Monterey Bay Economic Partnership (MBEP) on the Monterey Bay Housing Trust. Since 2017, we’ve invested more than $52.4 million across 18 projects in the Monterey Bay region – impact made possible thanks to MBEP and the many local leaders working alongside us to expand housing opportunities and strengthen communities. In Seaside, the conversation on workforce housing wasn’t just about challenges – it was about solutions. At the Workforce Housing Solutions Summit, hosted by Monterey Bay Economic Partnership (MBEP), housing leaders and partners came together to share ideas, dig into policy and financing, and push forward strategies that can shape the future of the Monterey Bay region. An insightful State of Housing in the Region address by Tahra Goraya, President & CEO of MBEP, helped frame the discussion with a clear-eyed look at the opportunities and challenges ahead. READ MORE

Welcome Aboard Sarah, Peter, & Jacob!

Sarah McIntire is our new Senior Loan Officer! She joins us from MidPen Housing, where she spent 11 years leading multifamily development projects across the Bay Area and advancing equitable contracting strategies as Senior Project Manager and Head of Development Values Contracting. With over 17 years of experience in affordable housing development and public policy, she brings deep expertise in finance, policy, and development. Peter Coolidge is our new Senior Underwriter for the Homebuyer team! With nearly 25 years of mortgage industry experience and more than two decades in underwriting, he brings both expertise and heart to the role. He joins us from Wells Fargo Bank, where he spent 13 years, eight of them as a Senior Underwriter in their Portfolio Credit Office. READ MORE

Jacob Nyamu is our new Credit Analyst! He will support our Multifamily Lending team by evaluating and underwriting affordable housing loans, performing financial analysis, third-party reviews, and site visits. He joins us from Five Star Bank, where he conducted credit reviews for large banking relationships, and brings experience in data analysis and federal contracting from his time at Uncut Lab. READ MORE

Thank You to Our Summer Interns

This summer, we welcomed three talented interns, Maxine, Hana, and Charlie, who brought fresh perspectives while learning about Housing Trust’s mission and how we work with partners to expand affordable housing opportunities:



  • Hana Paskova, Impact Intern (recent graduate, Minerva University): supported data analysis for impact evaluations, researched sustainability measurement practices, and created a template for future reporting on project sustainability features.


  • Charlie Ramirez, Finance Intern (UC Berkeley): supported financial analysis and reporting – including competitor benchmarking, budget rollover, and grant reconciliation for the Apple Affordable Housing Fund.


We’re grateful for the interns' contributions and look forward to seeing their careers take shape in the years ahead!
