The 9th edition of Italian Design Day (IDD25, celebrated globally, is set to explore the theme: Inequalities. Design for a Better Life. To mark this occasion, the Italian Cultural Institutes in Haifa and Tel Aviv host a series of three lectures by Alon Rotman, an industrial designer with a deep knowledge in Italian design.

Looking forward to seeing you all on Wednesday, February 12, at 19:00 (Israel time) on the occasion of the first meeting in the Italian Design Day 2025 series: AN INTRODUCTION TO ITALIAN DESIGN. Event in attendance of the public.

Il patrimonio culturale, artistico e artigianale dell’Italia ha prodotto alcune delle più grandi icone del design internazionale. Vi invitiamo a intraprendere con noi un breve, ma intenso viaggio attraverso gli “oggetti di culto” del design italiano, che hanno sfidato forma, materiali, ingegneria e funzione, ridefinendo il nostro quotidiano e modificando il paesaggio domestico, a partire dai progetti modernisti della metà del XX secolo, per proseguire con il movimento radicale e giungere fino ai nostri giorni. Libiamo ne’ lieti calici a una vita migliore!

Join us for a journey through these icons, which challenged form, materials, engineering, and function – redefining life and changing our domestic landscape. Our journey begins with mid-20th century modernism, moves through the radical movement, and continues to the present day. Let’s raise a toast to a better life!

אלון רוטמן, מעצב התעשייתי. לאחר שסיים בהצטיינות לימודי עיצוב בבית הספר "שנקר – הנדסה. עיצוב. אמנות", רוטמן הפך לעוזרו של המעצב והאמן המפורסם רון גלעד. יחד אתו עבד בקשר הדוק עם תעשיית העיצוב האיטלקי. בנוסף, רוטמן הוא עוזר הוראה במחלקת העיצוב בתעשייתי בבית הספר "בצלאל – אקדמיה לאמנות ועיצוב ירושלים".י

Alon Rotman, progettista industriale. Dopo aver completato gli studi di design presso la Shenkar School of Design, Tel Aviv (summa cum laude), Rotman ha lavorato come assistente del famoso artista e designer Ron Gilad, collaborando con l'industria del mobile italiana. Presta inoltre servizio come assistente ricercatore e docente presso la Bezalel Academy di Gerusalemme, Dipartimento di Design Industriale.

Alon Rotman, industrial designer. Since completing design studies at Shenkar School of Design (summa cum laude), Rotman has worked as an assistant to renowned designer and artist Ron Gilad, collaborating with the Italian furniture industry. Additionally, Rotman serves as a teaching assistant in the Industrial Design Department at Bezalel Academy, Jerusalem.
