ABOUT ZAIRA MENESES
From Mexico, Xalapa, Veracruz-born classical guitarist Zaira Meneses has been highly acclaimed by the international media. Of her work, The New York Times wrote, [she is] “an arresting performer full of colorful touches."
The Providence Journal referred to her as the "Mexican classical dynamo" and The Boston Globe called her [an] "eminent classical guitarist."
In 2018, Meneses performed “Elegiaco Concerto” under the baton of the world famous Cuban composer, guitarist and conductor, Leo Brouwer and in 2019, Meneses was subsequently selected to perform Brouwer’s documentary film, “El Origen de la Sombra,” which was shot in Havana, Cuba. Brouwer composed and dedicated "6 preludios" specifically for the talents of Zaira Meneses and the music was supported by The Saint Augustine Foundation and the Robert E. Davoli and Eileen L. McDonagh Charitable Foundation.
After Meneses sold out her own independently produced album titled Latina, she was signed to a recording deal with Centaur Records. The resulting album features a 45 minute program of the music of J.S.Bach, using Meneses's own arrangements.
In addition to being an in demand performer, Meneses is also known for her tireless work as a concert producer.
In 2018, she was awarded a grant from the Boston Foundation to present authentic “Son Jarocho Music” with key artists coming from Veracruz to perform on the little known Mexican guitars known as jaranas and requintos. These musicians were heard in Massachusetts for the very first time.
Meneses is also now the Founder and President of the recently launched non-profit organization, Eliot Fisk Guitar Academy (EFGA), which offers a new platform with its mission to spread music education worldwide.
As Director and Founder of Boston's Latin American Music Festival as well, she has also held the title of Co-Director of The Boston Guitar Festival for past eighteen years.
Meneses continues performing guitar concertos with various orchestras, presenting solo recitals and performing chamber music while at the same time, managing the various events of EFGA.

ABOUT TOMOMI KOHNO
Born in Tokyo, Japan, Tomomi Kohno studied piano music from the tender age of four and her first lessons on guitar were from guitarist/composer Yukihiro Yokoo at the age of seven! From age ten on, she continued her studies with guitarist Tsuneo Ema.
After having graduated from Japan Women's University, where she majored in sociology, Ms. Kohno found a job at an IT company in Tokyo and worked in its marketing department for two years. She also worked as a web designer and coder for various other companies but after a while, with renewed thinking, energy and inspiration, she realized her true love was music.
In 2001, Ms. Kohno was the winner of the 32nd Classical Guitar Competition and won 2nd prize in the Spanish Guitar Competition in Tokyo as well. And, she has attended masterclasses with many famous guitarists. For example, she studied with Roland Dyans, Eduardo Fernandez, Scott Tennant, Maria Esther Guzman, Alvaro Pierri and others. In 2004, she released a solo album, The White Trace, with compositions by Kenji Harada who incidentally specializes in video game music and rock! Her second album, titled Dieci Centesimi, features cellist Kana Moriya along with original music for classical guitar composed as well by Kenji Harada.
Kohno currently studies with Gentaro Takada and Shin-ichi Fukuda, both of whom are well known Japanese guitarists. In 2008, she received 3rd prize from the Asia International Guitar Competition. In 2012, she performed at the Torino Music Festival in Italy and while there, she visited many renowned cathedrals. The music she experienced in these historic edifices highly influenced her selection of music for her subsequent album, Oracion, released in 2013 by Sony Music. This album achieved first place in sales on the classical music charts in October of that year. The album also received a "Special Selection" by the magazine, Record Art, in Japan.
In 2015, she released her second album, Luxe, which features a theme of "classic jazz." This release also was picked as a "Special Selection" by Record Art.
