Synopsis

Mining companies across Southern Africa are accelerating the deployment of renewable energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and hybrid microgrid solutions to reduce electricity costs, improve supply security, and meet decarbonisation commitments.

However, project design, financing, grid integration, regulatory compliance and operational performance remain complex and highly site-specific.

This EE Business Intelligence webinar brings together four leading practitioners and solution providers to examine how renewable energy, BESS and microgrids are being deployed across the mining sector, both behind the meter and grid-connected for wheeling and trading.

Presenters will share practical insights on system sizing and optimisation, reliability and resilience, curtailment and load management, policy, regulatory and environmental considerations, permitting, contracting and bankability, and lessons learned from operating projects.

The webinar will provide mining companies, investors, lenders and policymakers with a grounded, real-world perspective on how integrated energy solutions can support operational continuity, cost competitiveness, and long-term sustainability in a changing power environment.
