A Day of Lamentation and Action

Christ Church Cathedral
March 14,2018

“A voice was heard in Ramah, wailing and loud lamentation, Rachel weeping for her children;
she refused to be consoled, because they are no more.”
Mathew 2:16-18
Please join our Bishops, Ian T. Douglas and Laura J. Ahrens, retired Bishop Jim Curry, and our Dean Lina Howell, as we gather at our Cathedral on March 14 at Christ Church Cathedral, 45 Church St, Hartford for a day of lamentation, confession, fasting, contrition, and action. We will commemorate a month since the shootings at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, pray for the victims and families.

We will also discuss and identify action steps as we understand, as stated by Bishops United Against Gun Violence , “ that we must not simply identify the social and political impediments to ending these lethal spams of violence in our country. We must reflect on and acknowledge our own complicity in the unjust systems that facilitate so many deaths, and, in accordance with the keeping of a holy Lent, repent and make reparations. "

Three opportunities for prayer and conversations will be offered on March 14.
