Inviting America's Christian community to vote

The only option on November 6th is to vote for freedom.

Vote for life, marriage, and candidates with Biblical values.

What Alexis de Tocqueville [1805-1859] called ‘the habits of the heart’, Os Guinness calls ‘ the golden triangle of freedom’, with which he means the cultivation and transmission of the conviction that freedom requires virtue, which requires faith, which requires freedom, which in turn requires virtue, and so on, like the recycling triangle, ad infinitum.

Last week the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library featured Eric Metaxas, the distinguished Christian thinker and author who isn’t afraid to speak his mind on both theology and key issues of the day. It was after becoming a Christian decades ago, it says on his website, that Metaxas made a key decision he says has invigorated and catapulted his career: that he would let God take control.

Reagan Library Executive Director John Heubusch interviewed Metaxas, asking him whether he was surprised that Donald J. Trump won the presidency.

Metaxas responded, “ Yes and no. Everybody said to me, I mean everybody said to me, there’s no way he’s going to win; like it was almost laughable. For the rest of my life I will be totally nonplussed by people who seem to think there was some third option.”

And about the alternative of a Clinton presidency:

“Just today I’m emailing with a very conservative Christian friend, at National Review, and it’s clear that there are some people who just despise the president. And I think to myself, ‘Look, you don’t have to love him but you do recognize that Hillary Clinton was going to be the president if he didn’t get elected? Did you miss that?’ I’m talking [about] brilliant people and I don’t know how to process that.”

“Even if you hate Trump, you have to hate him more than the idea of a Hillary Clinton presidency. I cannot for the life of me fathom what I’m missing. In my gut I can claim, because I’m a Spirit-filled Jesus-freak kind of Christian, I just had a sense that ‘He can’t lose, if he loses he loses’, but in my gut I thought to myself, ‘There’s no way I can accept it,’ and I must do anything mainly to prevent a Hillary Clinton presidency. And I’m still convinced and shocked that others - brilliant people - aren’t convinced that we would have lost everything.”

“You have two or three more Supreme Court Justices in the mold of Sotomayor, game over for the United States of America. Anyone who says, ‘Oh, we can come back,’ baloney, we cannot come back.”

On the question whether he believed that prayer actually has worked in helping President Trump to succeed, Metaxas answered: “To me there is, there can be no question that he never should have been elected … it had to be the prayers of the Saints, it had to be. … Let’s put it this way: if God is for you, who can be against you. I think God is using this imperfect vessel for God’s purposes.”

Along with Eric Metaxas, we are asking pastors to instruct their Salt and Light committees, or executive assistants, this week to call their church members with the message that “Your pastor wants you to know that he is going to vote, and would like 100% of our membership to vote as we attempt to turn America back to HIM.”

Of course, no one will believe that the Kingdom of God is going to arrive on Air Force One. But since somebody’s values are going to reign supreme following the November 6 Midterm Elections, it’s our hope and mission that Biblical values will reign in 2019-2020.
