Councilman Frank Educational Gilmore

This Saturday, get a preview of what your local elected officials will be voting on at the next City Council Meeting during our Ward F Caucus at 11am, including a conversation about Rank Choice Voting!

Come out and pray at the buildings before the Oct. 22nd march, along the same route. Praying starts at 4 pm Saturday, Oct 21st at the Public Safety Building located at 356 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive at 4:00 pm. No walking just praying for a successful march, come out Saturday afternoon if possible come pray for the march.

Councilman Gilmore will introduce an ordinance at the next City Council Meeting that may enable RCV to be used locally. If passed, it will lay the foundation for passage and use of RCV in other towns across the state during upcoming general elections.

Ranked Choice Voting (“RCV”) enables voters to rank candidates in the order of preference and ensures that winners of any election have the support of – and are accountable to – a majority of voters. This trigger ordinance -- enacted once the state law is changed to permit such a method of voting -- proclaims that Jersey City voters will have the opportunity, on the following General Election ballot, to adopt the RCV method on all Mayoral, Council, and School Board member elections moving forward.

Join us on Wednesday, October 25, at the Bethune Center for a mock election to see what all the fuss is about as we enjoy (and judge) our favorite Blimpie sandwiches.

If you live in the Harmon/Arlington neighborhood, be sure to join the Zoning Board meeting before variances for this project are approved. This project was scheduled to be heard on September 21st but will now be heard by the Zoning Board on Thursday, October 26th.

Case: Z20-019

Description: Subdivision of existing block 18702, lot 16 to create parcel for existing multi-family building and lot for development of existing parking lot; requesting "c" and "d" variances.

If you wish to participate during the public comment portion of an agenda item, join the meeting using Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83659307838

These candidates will be working on the Budget for the BOE that AFFECTs our Property Taxes.

This is your opportunity to hear them and to question them before you vote for them. The BOE budget is 1 Billion + dollars.

Education Matters Team: Three candidates are supported by the Jersey City Teachers:

Blount, Patel, Morris.

Children First Team: Two currently sit on the board and are supported by The Jersey City Education Association (the local teachers union): Richardson, Verdibello, and Andrews

Independent of any Teams: Scafidi and Salia

Renes Cruz, a veteran local teacher, (initially with Education Matters) now running independently.
