February is Black History Month

"It is still possible, it is always possible, to come together, even at a time of division, bombs and wars. It is time to stop the race of hatred. Our humanity is at stake."

-Pope Leo XIV

Curious About Religious Life or a Life of Service?

Many women today are asking deeper questions about purpose, justice, and belonging. If you’re longing for a life with purpose, community, and meaningful impact, you’re not alone.

If you feel called to make a difference through faith and service, we invite you to learn more and begin a conversation. The Sisters of Social Service invite you to explore where faith and service might meet your deepest hopes.

SSS Inspires Young Adults at Cavite State University to Explore Religious Life

Students at Cavite State University in the Philippines had the unique opportunity to engage with the Sisters of Social Service, learning about a life dedicated to faith, community, and meaningful service. Through conversation, reflection, and sharing stories of vocation, these young adults explored what it might mean to answer a deeper call and make a difference in the world.

Sisters Nodelyn and Sonia were blessed with the opportunity to offer a Vocation Talk at Cavite State University’s Department of Social Work in the Philippines.

Sisters Maribeth and Simone Make A Meaningful Trip to the Philippines

Above: Sr. Maribeth Larkin, Cardinal Luis Tagle, Albano, Philippines; Sr. Simone Campbell and Sr. Michele Walsh.

Sisters Maribeth and Simone reported on their recent visit to the Philippines, where they spent time with the Sisters and experienced their ministries firsthand. Sr. Marilena provided helpful context with Philippine history and visits to monuments honoring the country’s revolutions. They noted both the challenges of traffic and their appreciation for Sr. Vangie’s expert driving! They also visited Sr. Sonia’s ministry at the Juvenile Detention Facility at La Salle University and attended Sunday liturgy at the Cavite jail where Vangie serves. Sr. Marilena and Sr. Michele’s work in economic development was especially encouraging; the scholars’ program in Paliparan has significantly strengthened the community’s economic stability and is nearing the point of local leadership with a similar program also centered in Amadeo.

A community gathering was held in the screened garden meeting space in Amadeo to discuss planning for the Jubilee, the 2027 Chapter, and other upcoming events, followed by a lovely dinner prepared by the SSS Associates there. Everyone enjoyed a meaningful conversation about their connection to the SSS, and the Sisters expressed their sincere desire to return again soon!

We extend sincere gratitude to all of our friends and donors who are so incredibly supportive of our work in the Philippines!
