IoD Ireland Members' Update

December 2022

Dear Anne,

I hope this finds you well.

I would like to thank all of you who participated in our ESG research titled, 'The State of ESG in Irish Boardrooms', conducted in partnership with the Diligent Institute (see link below). I am pleased to note that we have been invited to discuss the findings of this new report at the Joint Committee on Enterprise, Trade and Innovation.

As Christmas approaches, it is important to be mindful of those that find themselves in a difficult place. IoD Ireland is delighted to support the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVP) this year as part of our Christmas Appeal. Unfortunately, the effects of the cost-of-living crisis have impacted many families and individuals around the country. We are encouraging all our members and stakeholders to give as generously as they can to help the work of SVP this Christmas. All donations will be processed directly via the SVP website.

As 2023 approaches, I am delighted to announce that Accenture will continue to be the sponsor of the IoD Ireland Briefings Series in 2023, and IQ-EQ will continue to sponsor the Lunch Bites @ the IoD Series in 2023.

This ezine’s issue also includes the latest events, director training, exclusive content and benefits available to members, all available below. I hope you find it helpful.

I look forward to meeting many more of you in person in 2023, the year the IoD celebrates its 30th Anniversary but, for now, may I wish you and yours a very Happy Christmas.

Four Factors Businesses Need to Consider as They Plan for the Metaverse

In this blog, written exclusively for IoD Ireland, David Kirwan, Head of Technology, Accenture Ireland, urges business leaders in Ireland to focus on four factors that will ensure companies keep up with the next wave of digital transformation.

'What we’re talking about is evolution rather than revolution, a continuum from technologies we are already using today,' he writes. 'But the leaps when they come will be big and businesses need to prepare in the best way they can or risk missing out on new paths to competitive advantage.'
