The 2025 Annual Report is Here

Check out everything we accomplished this past year! Our 2025 Annual Report highlights program participants, events, volunteers, donors, neighborhood impact, financials, and so much more. Thank you to everyone who helped make this past year a success—we couldn’t have done it without your support!

Breaking Ground on Brittany's Home

Our staff, board, volunteers, and community members came together to celebrate as Brittany, one of our two Women Build families, broke ground on where her future home will stand. This marks an exciting first step in her homebuilding journey.

The first volunteer day of Women Build is April 30th, and we are thrilled to get started with Women Build 2026!

Building Community Together Initiative

Building Community Together is more than a tagline - it's Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity’s bold vision for transforming how we grow, give, and build for the future.

We launched an $11.5 million fundraising initiative to serve 419 families in just three years—more than in our first 30 years combined. This will transform lives and neighborhoods through strategic, lasting investment.

With $10.6 million already committed, we have almost reached our goal—but we can’t finish without you.

Whether you donate, volunteer, or give materials, you’re helping us build more than houses—you’re building lasting stability, opportunity, and hope. Join us as we build community—together.

Home is the Key at the ReStore!

Round up at the register all month long at the ReStore to support Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity.

When you give, you’ll have the opportunity to write your name on a key and see it displayed in our store—a simple but meaningful way to show your support for building homes, communities, and hope.

Lloyd Dove is one of our Nazareth Lutheran Church volunteers. He's on the build site every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Lloyd has 40 years of construction experience, and he brings valuable skills to every project.

His favorite build has been the Clay St. bungalows. Lloyd also really enjoys handing the keys to the homebuyers and talking with the kids about how they will decorate their rooms.

Outside of volunteering Lloyd likes to spend time with family. He is very involved in his church and lives by the quote, "Live out the purpose the good Lord has given me."

Mike Vandendriessche is our ReStore Volunteer of the Month! He’s been volunteering with us three days a week for the past nine years.

Mike’s favorite part of the ReStore is the hands-on work—helping move inventory and assisting customers with carryouts. We call him our “muscle man” because we can always count on him for the heavy lifting.

When he’s not at the ReStore, Mike enjoys spending time with family, biking, going to the gym, and doing yard work.

Thank you, Mike, for everything you do!

The Lasting Impact of Critical Home Repair

By Sydney Garlach, Neighborhood Impact Intern

Starting my internship with Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity was different from what I expected as a Social Work major. At first, I didn’t fully understand Habitat’s mission or how much they really do. Many people know Habitat for building homes, and like I once thought, assume they are given away for free (they’re not). But Habitat also offers programs like the Critical Home Repair Program, which can make just as big of a difference. Read more...

Why We Build

Ali Parrish is our Executive Director at Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity. In her role, she helps bring people, resources, and ideas together so families can build stable homes and strong neighborhoods.

A mission moment that continues to inspire her is witnessing the moment someone realizes they are not alone—and that our community is walking alongside them.

If Ali were an item at the ReStore, she would be a door—opening new opportunities and inviting people into something bigger than they imagined.

Outside of work, Ali enjoys spending time with her husband, kids, and extended family. She loves singing at her church, being with friends, traveling, and fishing. She is honored to be part of this work and this community.

The Parkersburg Rehab has Started!

We want to give a huge thank you to all of our Parkersburg Build Sponsors! Your partnership means so much, and you are truly making a lasting difference in your community.

Demo work was completed last fall, and now volunteer teams will come out to start on installing windows, painting, siding, flooring, and more!
