Celebrating 35 Years!

Over the decades, we’ve had the honor of supporting more than 500 families across Black Hawk, Butler, Buchanan, and Bremer counties.

One of those families is the Ruckers of Waterloo, who are currently going through our homeownership program — and we couldn’t be more excited for them! Tired of living in a cramped rental with frozen pipes and no space to grow, Shy Rucker took a leap of faith and applied for homeownership through Iowa Heartland Habitat. Today, her kids are dreaming of bedrooms they can decorate, space to play, and a dog to call their own. As Shy Rucker shared, "You get to call somewhere a home, and that is so worth it."

None of this would be possible without our incredible partner families, donors, volunteers, staff, and supporters. Thank you for being part of this journey. Together, we build community.

Program Social

Our Program Social is a special time for past, current, and future partner families to connect with each other and our Iowa Heartland Habitat team. We shared laughs during a scavenger hunt, enjoyed a meal from Grab and Go, and celebrated the heart of our work: our partner families. Their strength and commitment are what inspire our work.

Thank you to First Congregational UCC Waterloo, Iowa for hosting us!

Cars for Homes

Heidi’s dad bought a 2005 Impala in 2006—the newest car their family had ever owned. He kept it until he passed in 2021. She passed it down to her kids as their school car. Now, with her youngest having graduated, Heidi chose to donate the car in her father's memory. “If there’s any value left in his car, I hope it can help support your cause. He would’ve appreciated the work Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity does.”

Want to turn your old car into a lasting memory?

  • Fast and easy process
  • Free towing

Board Member with Heart

Allison Beach is eager to dive in and contribute wherever she can to support the organization's mission as the board secretary. Having observed the positive impact of Iowa Heartland Habitat's work in her neighborhood over the years, Allison is proud to now be a part of the team striving to provide housing opportunities and hope for the future. She finds joy in witnessing the transformation of lives through homeownership and looks forward to playing her part in expanding the reach of Iowa Heartland Habitat.

Outside of her board duties and business responsibilities, Allison finds comfort in traveling with her family and spending time by the water, whether it's boating or lounging by a pool or lake.

Kick it to the Curb in Parkersburg

Parkersburg Fun Days weekend started with a strong show of community pride through a town-wide cleanup and donation drive, led by Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity ReStore’s “Kick it to the Curb” event on August 1st.

In partnership with the City of Parkersburg and the Fun Days committee, residents set out reusable items for curbside pickup. The ReStore team collected the donations to support affordable housing and sustainability in the region.

Adding to the day’s impact, Aplington-Parkersburg High School football players volunteered their time to help load donations—demonstrating teamwork and a commitment to giving back.
