Contractor with Heart

We want to give a big thank you to Shultz Repair & Renovation LLC for always showing up and supporting Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity.

For nearly 10 years, they have been a trusted partner, generously donating materials and labor to numerous projects.

We can always rely on Schultz to ensure the drywall in our homes is completed with care, quality, and on time.

Thank you for the support!

Thank you!

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Scheels in Cedar Falls and Lincoln Savings Bank for their incredible generosity!

Scheels contributed $1,500 through employee giving, and Lincoln Savings Bank awarded $1,500 through a grant from the LSB Foundation.

These gifts help us continue building homes, communities, and hope. We are truly grateful for your support!

337 Almond Street is on the Market

Listed at $409,900, this home features 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, a cozy fireplace, covered parking, a charming wrap-around porch, balcony, and convenient second-floor laundry.

Set on a quiet Waterloo street in the Walnut neighborhood, this historic 1895 home has been thoughtfully transformed inside and out. From restored original windows and refinished hardwood floors to a fully updated kitchen with quartz countertops and stainless-steel appliances, every detail reflects care and intention.

It’s truly move-in ready for its next family! This is a rare opportunity to own a home where the past has been preserved with purpose, and the present has been addressed with care. For more information, contact Lynette D. Sorensen at

(319) 504-2789.

Linda Schaffer is our ReStore Volunteer of the Month. Linda has volunteered at the ReStore for 7 months, helping on the sales floor by cleaning, organizing, and assisting customers. She also volunteers twice a week with Hope City Pantry, picking up food for families in need.

After retiring from CenturyLink after 34 years, Linda continues to give back through service. In her free time, she enjoys quilting, Bible study, and spending time with friends.

Why We Build

Meet Erin, our Senior Site Supervisor! She leads and trains volunteers on the construction site, guiding them through each stage of building homes. She also supports other site supervisors, making sure the project runs smoothly.

Erin loves working with volunteers—helping them take on new challenges and learn new skills along the way. A mission moment that stands out to her is working alongside homebuyers on the build site. Hearing their stories and seeing what their home means to them brings her so much joy.

If Erin were a tool, she’d be a pencil—simple but essential. It might get dull at times, but it can always be sharpened and ready to keep creating. Outside of work, Erin enjoys spending time with her family, staying active outdoors, and tinkering with projects at home.

Construction Volunteer of the Month

Stewart Fluent is a longtime volunteer who first got involved through Orchard Hill Church. He began volunteering weekly on Wednesdays and now helps most days, Monday through Thursday.

Stewart especially enjoys flooring and

framing projects.

Before retiring, he worked as a

mechanical engineer. We appreciate all you do for us Stewart!

Proud Community Partner in Independence

We’re excited to highlight Gedney Bakery & Coffeehouse in Independence! Owners Jenny Hughes, Pete & Terry Gaumer, and Chasity Block have been long-time partners, supporting Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity’s mission through events like Sips & Bites last spring and the Gallup for Good 5K. We have also teamed up to ring bells and collect donations for The Salvation Army.

Their team includes donors, a past board member, Builder Circle members, volunteers, Buchanan County committee members, and even an Iowa Heartland Habitat homeowner! Thank you for all the support!
