Thanks to your support, 2024 was a big year at Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity! Together, we helped more families find strength and stability through safe, affordable housing—and that’s something to celebrate.

Check out our 2024 Annual Report to see the highlights, stories, and the difference you made possible. We’re so grateful to have you with us. Here’s to building even more in 2025!

Sturgis Falls Panel Build

Thank you to everyone who came out to Sturgis Falls!

We had an incredible time hosting a panel build right in the heart of the festivities — and thanks to your hard work, 8 walls were built for a future Iowa Heartland Habitat home!

Your energy, enthusiasm, and teamwork helped lay the foundation for more than just a house — you're helping build a brighter future for a local family. Whether you swung a hammer, cheered us on, or stopped by to learn more about our mission, we’re so grateful for your support. Together, we build community.

Neighborhood Surveys

Do You Live in the Walnut or Church Row Neighborhood? We want to hear from you! Sign up to take our neighborhood survey and help improve your community. The survey takes 40–60 minutes to complete, and as a thank-you for your time, you'll receive a $25 gift card.

Together, we can make Walnut and Church Row even better places to live.

Board Member with Heart

As our Walnut Neighborhood Representative Board Member, Judy is honored to do amazing work for her neighborhood. Being able to serve alongside competent, compassionate staff and board members, as well as participating in the dedication ceremonies of many grateful homeowners and their families brings immense joy to Judy.

As a resident & pastor of a local church in the Walnut neighborhood, Judy has spent years praying and walking the streets of Walnut.

It’s a beautiful witness of the Lord’s goodness as she sees her neighborhood be transformed into a healthier, thriving community. New homes bring new neighbors who are invested in revitalizing the neighborhood by establishing roots and committing to raise their families there.

Besides her love of gardening and canning produce for the winter, Judy enjoys riding bicycles with her husband George, spending time in God’s creation and holidays with family along with fun games and good conversation.

Supporting Community Growth in Waverly

Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity recently connected with the Waverly community through outreach at the Waverly Farmer’s Market and a visit with employees at Nestle Beverage. We shared our mission of affordable housing and encouraged involvement through volunteering, homeownership, and donations.

We also hosted a Blueprints Financial Coaching Workshop on June 26 at Trinity Methodist Church, in partnership with Veridian Credit Union. This free event provided practical tools for budgeting, saving, and building financial stability—key steps toward homeownership.

Together, we build strong foundations—not just through homes, but through education and community support.

Thank You to Our Missionary Volunteers

Huge shoutout to the missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for lending a hand and laying sod at two of our construction sites! Despite the heat and humidity, these incredible volunteers showed up with determination and smiles. We’re so grateful for their hard work and positive energy!

Contractor with Heart

A heartfelt thank‑you to Kugler Construction, our longtime partner! Their skilled team has truly embraced our mission—taking on full and partial projects for years and now stepping up for this year’s Home Builders Blitz. From building porches and framing to tacking the exterior work at 337 Almond - all while generously donating extra labor - their dedication truly shines.

Kugler's passion, expertise, and generosity amplify our impact and show what true partnership looks like. THANK YOU for building more than structures—for building hope!

ReStore Volunteer of the Month

Gene retired from John Deere after 36 years. For the past nine years, he has been a dedicated volunteer at the ReStore. He helps with carry-outs, paint selection, and inventory. He cleans, prices, and repairs our donations.

In his free time, Gene enjoys spending time with his family and working on various projects.
