You're Invited!

HomeLab is an initiative by Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity that helps community members build the skills and confidence to care for their homes. As a hands-on learning space, it will offer classes focused on practical home maintenance and prevention, helping participants learn how to identify and address issues early. This supports long-term housing stability and homeownership.

Not only will you be able to attend classes, but you can also rent HomeLab for your next event! This welcoming, versatile space can be reserved in full or by individual rooms to fit your needs. It's perfect for meetings, workshops, trainings, and small gatherings. HomeLab is truly an ideal place where people can come together for connection.

We invite you to join us at HomeLab for the Grand Opening, with more information on classes, registration, and rentals coming soon. We hope you’ll be part of this celebration.

Thank you, John Deere, for your support!

More than 80 volunteers built over 180 wall panels in just two days at this year's John Deere Panel Build. These panels will become the walls of four future Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity homes.

This marked the sixth year of the Panel Build, and its success helped inspire John Deere's statewide Build Our Communities initiative. For the first time, Habitat affiliates across Iowa are working together, with more than 1,200 John Deere employees volunteering on home builds, panel builds, and Habitat ReStore projects.

Here in Waterloo, the impact continues as more than 500 volunteers come together for our Blitz Build, constructing two Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity homes side-by-side on Almond Street.

Thank you to everyone helping build strength, stability, and self-reliance through homeownership.

Staff Build Day

We had a blast at our Staff Build Day working on 402 Allen St.! Twice a year, our office staff get out on the build site and work alongside our construction team. It’s a great reminder of the real impact this work has on families and our community.

Our team spent the day removing window trim, mixing cement, and laying plywood.

A big thank you to Dylyn, our Site Supervisor, for making it such a fun and meaningful day!

[Her]oes Build Community

Thank you to the Omega/Bertch Women Build team for coming out to 1020 Wellington and helping set the walls. We appreciate your hard work and support in building strength, stability, and shelter in our community!

Building Futures

Huge thank you to Master Builders of Iowa for supporting our work with Cedar Falls CAPS through the MBI Works grant.

This partnership gives students hands-on construction experience while helping address the affordable housing need in our community. We appreciate your support and are grateful for this partnership.

Ride for a Cause at Pint Night

We’re excited to partner with SingleSpeed Brewing for an upcoming Pint Night

Ride!

On July 2nd, 10% of all taproom sales from 4 PM to close will be donated to support our mission. Guests can join a casual group ride or simply stop by for food and drinks to contribute. The ride starts at SingleSpeed in Cedar Falls at 5:30pm and will end at the Taproom at Wonder Bread.

It’s a great opportunity to gather with the community and make an impact — we

hope to see you there!

Thank you, Wayne, for all you do!

Why We Build

Tina is the Board Vice President at Iowa Heartland Habitat. She was inspired to get involved after seeing a close friend go through the homeownership program over 10 years ago, and she quickly fell in love with the mission and the impact it creates.

Tina’s favorite part about Iowa Heartland Habitat is meeting families and hearing their stories. One mission moment that stands out to her is attending home dedications and seeing families receive the keys to their homes.

If Tina were a tool, she would be a level—bringing balance, perspective, and helping keep everything in line. Outside of Iowa Heartland Habitat, Tina enjoys spending time with family and friends, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, being involved in her church, reading, and attending concerts.
