The Fall Conference was a huge success and we want to thank everyone who helped make it possible. From the speakers and topics to the roundtables and theater tour, the people who attended were impressed.

As always a big thank you goes to the continued support of our sponsors and exhibitors that help make our conferences possible: Chamber Discovers, Platinum Affiliate member, CITSLINC, Gold Affiliate member and Iowa Economic Development, Chamber Explorations, Alliant Energy, ChamberMaster, AARP, Event Bank and CIRAS.

With a 97% approval rating from the conference survey, we could tell you enjoyed networking with your fellow chamber professionals. If you were unable to attend, you're in luck. We have posted all of the valuable information from the conference on our website. Click here to see what you missed and plan ahead to be there next year!

ICCE Strategic Planning

If you have not yet participated in the ICCE programming survey, you have one more chance. We would like your input to help evaluate our current strengths and weaknesses. The board will then use the results to help create the 2018 body of programming offered to our members.
Danube River Cruise

ICCE is now offering a travel program to its members that has been designed to be a revenue generating machine for our members big or small. In 2018 we will be taking an amazing cruise down the Danube River.

Gather a couple friends and plan to join us October 15-24, 2018.

Contact Shar to plan an informational meeting about the trip.
FREE China Preview Trip

This is NOT an April fools joke. CITSLINC is traveling to China on April 1, 2018 and is offering any ICCE chamber CEO or executive director the opportunity for a FREE 9 day preview trip (departs from Los Angeles).

In addition to the preview trip, your members and community can also participate in a nine day trip to China throughout 2018. As an ICCE member you can promote the trip to gain non-dues revenue.

If you would like further details on either trip, please contact Shar.
Vote West Des Moines

American Express and the National Trust for Historic Preservation, in partnership with Main Street America, launched Partners in Preservation: Main Streets. The campaign will award $2 million in American Express preservation grants to historic sites in 25 Main Street districts across the country as decided by public vote.

You can help determine whether your favorite main street site receives the funding at, hosted by National Geographic, the media partner for the campaign.

Could Iowa be a contender for Amazon's $5 billion HQ2 project?

Amazon's announcement last week that it would open a second North American headquarters sparked a national competition among states and cities looking to secure one of the largest economic development projects in history.

The new headquarters would not replace the current company base in Seattle, but it promises to deliver as many as 50,000 jobs that on average pay more than $100,000 per year. The $5 billion headquarters would eventually grow to some 8 million square feet, Amazon says.

Small Business Revolution

Nominations are now open for one small town to win a $500,000 revitalization and be featured in Season 3 of the acclaimed “Small Business Revolution – Main Street” series, starring Shark Tank’s Robert Herjavec.

Nominations are open through Thursday, Oct. 19 and take only a few minutes to complete. Once finalists are announced, the American public will vote to determine the final winner. Eligible towns must have fewer than 50,000 residents, and anyone can nominate a town, whether they live there or not.
