Each year, tens of thousands of Iowans make their way through the gates at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.
Sometimes a few of them may need medical care or assistance, and that's why American Red Cross serving Greater Iowa volunteers are there to provide first aid.
From a stubbed toe, to an upset stomach to broken bones, Red Cross volunteers help Iowa State Fairgoers in their time of need!
During the 2013 Iowa State Fair, Red Cross volunteers assisted more than 5,500 people at two first aid stations.
This year, volunteers are needed to staff three first aid stations: the Hy-Vee Health and First Aid Center, which is at the top of Expo Hill; inside the Register building across from the Grandstand; and a new first aid station at the Des Moines University Mobile Clinic near Gate 10 by the Bud Light Stage.
80 Red Cross volunteers have already filled more than 300 first aid station shifts, but we still have approximately 180 spots to fill!
