HOMEOWNER SPOTLIGHT: MARGARITA RODRIGUEZ

Margarita Rodriguez has lived in her home for 31 years. She lives in the Iowa City Forest View community and she has been a source of support for her neighbors for decades. Margarita often puts her neighbors needs before her own, but with the added stress of the Covid-19 pandemic and the looming displacement of Forest View residents, she found her home was in critical need of repairs. Through Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity's Helping Hands Emergency Repair service (ERMAR), Margarita was able to make several home improvements.

BUILD WEEK

In 2013, Dr. Grant was the honoree of the IVHFH Women Build home and lead the Women Build committee to raise over $50,000 and recruit hundreds of volunteers to support construction of a Habitat home in Iowa City. IVHFH had the honor of working with Christine through the Women Build committee for the past 8 years. This year we invite the community to promote a dedicated week of service honoring Christine's legacy. Christine Grant Build Week will take place April 27-30, with construction volunteering available Wednesday the 27th through Saturday the 30th, and spots are still available. Thanks to Sarah and Lisa at Evolve Staging & Design, LLC for helping us with staging at one of our homes in Iowa City! They were quick to respond to our request and knew exactly what our little house needed to look more like home. We highly recommend them for your design and staging needs!

TRUSSES SET AT JANE HAGEDORN WOMEN BUILD

It was an exciting day in the Peninsula Neighborhood earlier this month as the IVHFH construction crew joined by dedicated volunteers and friends, including Lammers Construction Services, set the trusses to begin framing the roof of the Jane Hagedorn Women Build. A special thanks to Jim Townsend and Townsend Crane for bringing out their crane to help hoist the trusses!
